    Abstract: A pressure pipe for transporting corrosive material, such as ozonated water, is formed with a pipe joint that is resistant to ozone. An intermediate portion of the pressure pipe is formed from a low-carbon steel cylinder with inner and outer concrete layers and prestressing wire. A stainless steel slip joint member is attached to an end of the low-carbon steel cylinder to facilitate joining adjacent pipe sections. The stainless steel slip joint members resist the corrosive effects of ozone, while the inner concrete layer protects the low-carbon steel cylinders of the intermediate portion. In one aspect of the invention, a water treatment system constructed from pressure pipe as described above is connected as a bypass loop to a primary pipe run from a water source to a treatment plant. Ozone is introduced to water diverted through the bypass loop. The water decomposes prior to being reintroduced back into the primary pipe run.

    Abstract: A pipe joint is disclosed in which a pipe section having a bell end is joined to a pipe section having a spigot end and in which a split locking ring is provided for preventing the sections from separating. The locking ring may be expanded and contracted by means of a pair of lugs attached to the ends of the ring. A U-shaped nut is positioned on one of the lugs and a threaded fastener passes through each of the lugs and the U-shaped nut for engaging a threaded aperture in the nu to draw the lugs together, and an additional threaded nut is positioned on the fastener between the lugs for forcing the lugs apart.

    Abstract: Preparation of precast concrete slabs on a casting bed is facilitated through the use of a lay-out cart which moves along over the bed on wheels which engage parallel rails on opposite sides of the casting bed. Production hardware for a days casting can be loaded on the cart and positioned at the proper longitudinal and transverse positions on the bed by workmen riding on the cart and placing the hardware on the bed through an access opening formed through the cart. The access opening is preferably at least as wide as the bed to provide access to the bed across its entire width, and a fixed scale and movable indicator are associated with the access opening to locate specific positions transversely of the bed. A longitudinal scale extends the length of the bed and the cart carries an indicator which is movable along the longitudinal scale to locate positions along the length of the bed.
