Patent number: 9540678Abstract: The present invention intends to provide an assay system using split luciferase that has a remarkably high detection sensitivity. In an embodiment, binding of mutually binding first and second proteins is detected by preparing a first fusion protein comprising the first protein fused with a peptide having the amino acid sequence of amino acid SEQ ID NO: 1 and a second fusion protein comprising the second protein fused with a peptide having an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of amino acid SEQ ID NOS: 2 to 6, and allowing the first fusion protein to bind with the second fusion protein to form a complex, and detecting luminescence emitted from the complex.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 2014Date of Patent: January 10, 2017Assignees: The University of Tokyo, Toyo Boseki Kabushiki Kaisha, ProbeX Inc.Inventors: Takeaki Ozawa, Naomi Misawa, Kenji Miura, Tasuku Okamoto, Shigeaki Nishii, Kenji Masuda

Patent number: 6117309Abstract: A process for recovering a base oil of lubricating viscosity from used oil in which, following optional pretreatment, used oil is re-refined by distilling it in distillation apparatus having multiple theoretical plates. Impurities are then extracted from the lube range distillate fraction or fractions with a liquid extractant such as N-Methyl-2-Pyrrolidone (NMP) at a temperature below the temperature, if any, of complete miscibility of the extractant and the oil. The oil and extractant are then separated whereupon the extractant is re-used in the process and the oil is subject to further treatment, as necessary, for targeted uses.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 1997Date of Patent: September 12, 2000Assignee: Probex CorporationInventors: Alexander D. Patent number: 6106699Abstract: The invention is directed to a process of reducing the chlorine content of oil as well as its propensity to foul during subsequent distillation processes. The process heats the oil to a temperature in the range of 400 to 700 F and contacts the oil with a non-oxidizing gas, such as steam, for a residence time of at least several minutes. Thereafter the oil may be distilled and/or finished to a base lubricating oil or other distillate product. The oil subject to the process may be used oil, and can be subject to a dewatering or removal of light contaminants treatment prior to being subject to the process.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 1998Date of Patent: August 22, 2000Assignee: ProbexInventors: Martin R. MacDonald, Alexander D.B. Daspit, Thomas G. Murray

Patent number: 4508686Abstract: Apparatus and test film strip for evaluation of a film processor, particularly an x-ray film processor, based on a photodetector signal sequentially indicating the optical density of graded density test areas on a developed film and comparing the output thereof to a preselected voltage relating to the acceptable/too dark threshold of an unexposed or base fog area, the acceptable or too light threshold of a maximum density or dark area and the acceptable/too light and acceptable/too dark threshold of a medium density test area. Sequence testing of the graded density areas is functionally related on a single film strip to timing marks, adapted to be read by photodetector and timing circuitry, the timing marks and graded density test areas being linearly spaced and relatively disposed along the length of film strip.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 1982Date of Patent: April 2, 1985Assignee: Probex, Inc.Inventors: Gary S. Shaber, Charles W. Buenzli, Jr.
