Patent number: 4762561Abstract: The hardened volume change of concrete, grout, patching material, and water-proof material made from blends of Calcium Sulfate Hemihydrate, Portland Cement and Calcium Aluminate Cement can be reduced by using Portland Cement containing low levels of iron oxide. By lowering the normal level of iron oxide in the Portland Cement used in the above composition, it was also discovered that the compressive strengths dramatically increase as well as the bond to old concrete.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 1987Date of Patent: August 9, 1988Assignee: Construction Products Research, Inc.Inventors: Edward P. Patent number: 4654084Abstract: The contractions of aqueous hydraulic cement mixtures in the plastic state is controlled by the addition of a gas generating agent capable of generating gas in the mixture without the addition of activators or other agents, and which does not generate disagreeable or noxious ammonia fumes. The gas generation may be controlled over an extended period of time so that even slow setting cementitious mixtures may have their shrinkage or contraction inhibited while in the plastic state during setting or hardening without the generation of ammonia fumes.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 1983Date of Patent: March 31, 1987Assignee: Construction Products Research Inc.Inventor: John A. Heinen

Patent number: 4366209Abstract: A method of treating the unset surface of Portland cement concrete to form thereon a hardened surface, that is an integral coating, skin, treatment or mass of high early compressive strength, without substantial shrinkage during setting while exhibiting reduced wet and dry volume changes in the hardened state and prossessing a high degree of impermeability to fluids, abrasion, erosion and chemical resistance and similar characteristics desired in a surface treatment having commercial usefulness in a construction industry. The hardened surface is obtained by dry shaking, that is, sprinkling a dry cementitious composition of alumina cement and gypsum on the unset Portland cement concrete.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1981Date of Patent: December 28, 1982Assignee: Construction Products Research, Inc.Inventor: Warner K. Patent number: 4043828Abstract: Naturally occurring particulate carbonaceous materials are rendered capable of counteracting or inhibiting shrinkage when added to cementitious systems by special processing including heat treatment at temperatures substantially higher than drying temperature. Further advantageous properties are obtained by contacting the material with a water spray at the heating temperature . The treatment enhances the properties of carbonaceous materials which are already capable of inhibiting shrinkage in the cementitious systems. Effective shrinkage inhibition is also obtained by adding particular amounts of anthracite coal to such a system containing aggregate. The compressive strength of the systems incorporating the shrinkage counteracting or inhibiting carbonaceous materials of this invention remains within acceptable limits when effective non-shrink properties are obtained.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 1976Date of Patent: August 23, 1977Assignee: Construction Products Research, Inc.Inventor: Robert W.
