  • Patent number: 8038433
Abstract: An injection molding tool having a first section moveable with respect to a second section. In a first position, the first section contacts the second section along a parting line and forms a cavity. An expandable cavity part is moveably mounted with respect to the second section. In a closed condition, the expandable cavity part is in a retracted or molding position. The expandable cavity part can be moved away from the molding position or the closed condition to a release position or an expanded condition with allows access to molded part or other article. A core pin is either moveably mounted with respect to the expandable cavity part or is in a fixed position with respect to the expandable cavity part.

  • Patent number: 8033810
Abstract: An injection molding tool having a core assembly with a shaft that is lockably or securedly mounted within a bore of a plate or within another suitable lock element. Rotational or other suitable movement of the lock results in or translates into axial movement of and/or axial forces apply to the core assembly. A guide ring assembly has a center ring with a non-circular bore and a correspondingly shaped core assembly, to prevent rotational movement of the core assembly with respect to the guide ring assembly.

  • Publication number: 20110045122
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for demoulding negatives in plastic injection, which is coupled to means for ejecting a plastic injection mould and includes a guide bushing that can be attached to the die plate of the movable part of the mould, inside which extends a counter-mould which moulds the negative and is formed by a guide runner and a head that can be lowered to demould the negative. The guide bushing contains a projection which pushes against the side of the head as the counter-mould moves forward, so that the head is lowered sideways and the negative is released.

  • Publication number: 20110020490
Abstract: An apparatus for releasing a part that has an undercut, particularly in an injection molding system. A flange is moveably mounted with respect to a moveable part of an injection mold. A head is moveably mounted with respect to the moveable part. A joint, such as a ball-and-socket joint, is used to connect the head with respect to the flange. The head has a shoulder that contacts a stop which is longitudinally fixed with respect to the moveable part, when the mold is in a closed position. A bias element can be used to normally urge the head in a lateral direction with respect to the moveable part.

  • Publication number: 20100320632
Abstract: A monitor for maintaining a mold cycle count with an actuator sending a count signal to a processor following a mold operation. The monitor further includes a timer having an active mode and a sleep mode. The processor generates an average cycle time and an activity percentage of the mold taking into account active and sleep periods of the mold.

  • Patent number: 7361298
Abstract: A method of trimming blow-molded products while in the mold including the steps of placing a parison between a mold having two mold halves, moving the two mold halves together to form a cavity and enclose a portion of the parison, pressurizing the inside of the parison to produce a product and trimming a portion of the product while it is in the mold by applying a vacuum to those portions adjacent to a cutter and by then moving the cutter across the cavity and across the portion of the product to be cut. The mold halves are then separated and the product is removed therefrom. The apparatus for achieving this method includes a cutter slidably disposed in a first slot and having a slot plugging member slidably exposed in a second slot wherein the cutter and slot plugging member will prevent plastic from entering the first and second slots when the plastic product is being formed. After the plastic is formed, a vacuum is applied to portions of the product adjacent to the cutter.

  • Patent number: 7293341
Abstract: A collapsible core device for molding articles around the core device in a mold cavity includes a first sleeve, a second sleeve and an expansion member. The first sleeve includes a plurality of first ribs extending from a first base in an axial direction and defining a discontinuous first perimeter surrounding a channel. The second sleeve includes a plurality of second ribs extending from a second base in an axial direction and defining a discontinuous second perimeter surrounding the central channel. Each of the second ribs is arranged between adjacent ones of the first ribs. The expansion member is fittable within the central channel to displace the first and second ribs outwardly to form an overall perimeter defined by the first and second ribs.

  • Patent number: 7229269
Abstract: A slide retaining device for an injection mold is disclosed. The slide retaining device has a device body which has a top surface and a bottom surface. A live bearing can be mounted in the device body such that a portion of the live bearing extends above a top surface of the device body. The device is secured such that the live bearing supports the travel of a slide. A shoulder surface is formed where a body head portion interfaces with a body base portion. A spring is disposed is around the body base portion such that a spring top is in communication with the shoulder surface, and a spring bottom extends below the bottom surface of the device body. The spring creates a “pre-load” force that will hold the slide in place. Optional washers can be added to the device to adjust the “pre-load”.

  • Patent number: 6116891
Abstract: A side-action mechanism is provided for forming recesses or apertures in injection molded plastic parts and which includes a slide carrier and a driver actuator therefor which are part of a modular side-action cam unit that can be attached entirely into one mold half, e.g., the core half, so as to avoid having to machine and customize the other mold half or cavity half as with prior side-action devices. In addition, the modular side-action cam unit provides a driving surface that is preferably flat which engages the bottom flat of the cavity half to obviate the alignment problems which can occur in the prior angled cam pin side-action mechanisms. The present modular cam unit is a small unit and does not take as long to install into the mold as the prior side-action cam mechanisms which required installing parts in both the cavity and core halves of the mold.
