Abstract: A tree felling and shaping apparatus is provided with a fully powered and controllable link system which links a tree processor head to a boom that is in turn mounted to a vehicle. The link system includes two powered pivoting joints and a rotary coupling of up to 360° disposed therebetween. Such a combination provides a great convenience for the manipulation of the tree felling and shaping apparatus, not only permitting a maximum angular adjustment of the tree processor head for all directional orientations whether the head is in an upright position for felling trees or the head is in a recumbent position for processing trees, but also performing a universal joint function to freely suspend the tree processor head from the boom without using a conventional uncontrollable universal joint. The present invention improves maneuverability of the tree felling and shaping machines and thereby increases work efficiency.

Abstract: A saw tooth for a circular saw for a feller including, in one embodiment, a square saw tooth head having a frusto-pyramidal shape to be mounted on a holder, and the saw tooth head includes seats for receiving inserts. The inserts are provided with cutting tips and cutting edges while a clamp nut retains the inserts against the tooth head. When the edges and tips are worn or damaged from impact, the inserts are first replaced. When the seat of the head is damaged, the tooth can be rotated.

Abstract: A saw tooth of the type having a plurality of cutting edges at one end, the saw tooth rotatable in its mounting on a saw disk to present a fresh cutting edge when needed. Each cutting edge is angled rather than curved. The tooth can have hardened inserts to provide the angled cutting edges.

Abstract: A cutting tooth holder for circular saws used on felling heads. A plurality of the holders are mounted on a circular saw disk about its rim. Each holder has a clevis shape with the leg of the holder that is on top of the saw disk being relatively short compared to the length of the leg on the bottom of the saw. The short upper legs of the holders permit the use of a larger butt plate on the felling head to cover the saw.
