  • Publication number: 20120216221
Abstract: A method for calibrating steps of a stepping motor used in an optical disc drive is provided. A pick-up head is moved to an origin of the structure. The pick-up head is moved toward a terminal of the structure by a stepping motor. The steps of the stepping motor are recorded until a counter electromotive force of the stepping motor is detected. A predetermined travel distance of the pick-up head is calculated. If the predetermined travel distance of the pick-up head is different from the maximum distance of the structure, then it is decided that the stepping motor has step error, and the steps of the stepping motor are calibrated.

  • Patent number: 8234664
Abstract: The invention provides a method for ejecting an optical disk and a related ejection device for a slot-in disk drive. The ejection device includes a block disposed on a contact end of an unloading bar. The block stretches out of the contact end of the unloading bar along a longitudinal direction of the unloading bar for pushing a small size optical disk so that a distance between a center of the small size optical disk and a contact end of a loading bar exceeds a predetermined distance. When the small size optical disk is unloaded, the unloading bar backs to an initial position, the slot-in disk drive idles to load and unload the small size optical disk continuously for pushing the small size optical disk outwardly further.

  • Patent number: 8169459
Abstract: The disclosure discloses a compensation method in a radial direction on a label side of an optical disc. An optical disc is inserted into an optical disk drive. The data side of the optical disc is divided into at least one compensation area. An optical pick-up head (OPU) is moved from inner to outer rings by simulating a writing process. The OPU is moved to some pre-determined points and radial-directional compensation is performed to obtain radial-directional voltage gains at the pre-determined points. The voltage gains are recorded. The label side of an optical disc is inserted into the optical disk drive. The simulated track number is calculated on the basis of the required moving distance for the OPU to write pattern on the label side. The OPU is moved to write the label side by a radial-directional lens driving voltage compensated with a gain obtained from a compensation formula.

  • Patent number: 8121159
Abstract: A temperature compensation method for laser power in an optical disk drive is provided. A predetermined linear-fitting power curve and a temperature-changing slope curve are previously stored in the optical disk drive. Firstly, an output of laser power is controlled according to the predetermined linear-fitting power curve to read/write data. Next, the temperature of the disk drive is detected. Then, whether the temperature has changed is checked. If the temperature has not changed, the method continues to read/write data. If the temperature has changed, the method obtains a relative slope from the slope curve by use of the temperature of the disk drive, displaces the slope of the predetermined linear-fitting power curve with the obtained relative slope to form a new linear-fitting power curve for replacing the predetermined linear-fitting power curve, and controls the output of laser power.
