Abstract: The invention relates to a method for providing fragrance to a substrate, comprising the steps of: a) treating the substrate with a fragrance-containing composition; and b) treating the substrate with a fixative compound or mixture of fixative compounds selected from the group consisting of: a fructan; a starch hydrolysate having a dextrose equivalent ranging from 1 to 50; a hydrophobically modified fructan; and a hydrophobically modified starch hydrolysate, whereby step b) may be executed prior to, simultaneously with, and/or subsequent to the execution of step a). The invention further relates to fragrance-containing compositions and substrates.
