  • Patent number: 6206434
Abstract: A pipe coupling axially connects two pipes having a smooth outer surface. The pipe coupling includes a first split circular ring and a second split circular ring. The first and the second split circular rings are made from a metal strip. Each of the strips have a radially inner edge surrounding the ends of the pipes. A plurality of teeth are disposed at the radially inner edge of the strips. The teeth are disposed in the plane of the respective rings. A free end of the tooth penetrates into the pipe when the coupling is in the clamped position. The teeth extend at an angle relative to a longitudinal axis of the pipes. A side of each of the teeth facing toward the pipe inserted in the coupling have, adjacent to the free end of the tooth, at least one indentation. The indentation displaces the material of the tooth on the side of the tooth in the direction toward the free end of the tooth.

  • Patent number: 6173998
Abstract: A plug-in coupling connects two fluid conduits, one of which has a retaining rib. The plug-in coupling includes a sleeve having radial openings. The coupling also includes an arresting device displaceable within the sleeve. The arresting device has retaining arms. A free end of each arm is hook-shaped for engaging behind the retaining rib. Each of the free ends has an outer inclined face. When the sleeve and arresting device move apart, the inclined face presses against a front edge of the opening that receives the hook. When the arresting device and fluid conduit are pulled apart, an inner inclined face of the hook presses against the retaining rib. In an unlocking position, the outer inclined faces of the hooks are sufficiently spaced from the front edge of the respective opening so that the retaining arms may spread radially apart to permit decoupling. The arresting device also has resilient unlocking arms. An outer part of each one of the unlocking arms projects through one of the openings.

  • Patent number: 6088886
Abstract: A clamp for clamping a hose fast on a pipe clamp that includes a clamp band and a spring ring that is fixed with a first portion thereof to the clamp band. The spring ring elastically clamps the hose when the clamp is initially fitted on the hose, but is not yet clamped fast to the hose At least a second portion of the spring ring is at least predominantly disposed within the clamp band. The spring ring is made of spring steel sheet so that the clamp can be made compact to save material. The spring ring provides a firmer locking of the initially fitted clamp on the hose and ensures that the clamping force of the clamp is more uniformly distributed over the periphery of the hose because the clamp can slide on the outer circumferential surface of the spring ring.

  • Patent number: 6070914
Abstract: A pipe coupling for connecting pipes having unprofiled end sections includes an elastomeric sealing gasket for holding the unprofiled pipe end sections in a sealed manner. A clamping clip surrounds the sealing gasket. The clamping clip includes a clip strap having a first end and a second end. A first clamping jaw is formed at the first end. A second clamping jaw is formed at the second end. The clamping jaws are drawn together by a tensioning device. The clip strap has radially inwardly directed projecting flanges on each of its axial ends. A first C-shaped clamping ring and a second C-shaped clamping ring are each disposed between the sealing gasket and one of the flanges. Each of the C-shaped clamping rings are supported on a radially inner side of the clip strap. Each of the C-shaped clamping rings have projections projecting from its radially inner face and, when said clip strap is tensioned, the projections of the C-shaped rings engage in the pipe material.

  • Patent number: 6052873
Abstract: A shaped clip includes a metal band having axial flanges, a first clamping wall and a second clamping wall. A barb is bent over on the radially outer end of the first clamping wall. A barb has a first hook section and a second hook section. A latching hook is connected to a radially outer edge of the second clamping wall. The latching hook is formed from an L-shaped planar strip and has a first limb and second limb. To move the shaped clip from an open position to a closed position, the clamping walls are pressed together the so that the latching hook is latched to the barb by sliding an inclined surface of the second limb against an inclined end surface of the second hook section radially inwardly, over and beyond the inclined end surface of the latching hook thereby latching the shaped clip into a retention position.

  • Patent number: 6023815
Abstract: A hose clip is made of a metal band having a first end portion and a second end portion. The first end portion and the second end portion overlap each other when the hose clip is in a closed position so that the second end portion is disposed radially inwardly with respect to the first end portion. The second end portion has a first radially outwardly directed closure member. The second end portion has a first cutting edge having a first portion adjoining the first closure member. The first portion extends substantially transversely with respect to a peripheral direction of the band. The second end portion has a first clamping jaw protruding radially outwardly from the band. In the closed position, the first clamping jaw is not overlapped by the first end portion. The first portion of the first cutting edge defines a projection that is oriented towards the first clamping jaw. The projection extends parallel to the band.

  • Patent number: 5749603
Abstract: A holding device for securing a hose clip in position relative to a pipe connection over which a hose is to be positioned. The holding device has a plurality of holding arms arranged around an axis. The holding arms are connected by a connecting body and each has an internal, radially inwardly directed groove. All grooves are in the same transverse plane of the holding arms and are of the same width as the clip band so that the clip band can be received therein. Preferably, a hose clip in the form of a spring band clip with a clip band having radially outwardly angled clamping jaws is used. A U-shaped clamp, which holds the clamping jaws together when the spring band clip is in an open position, may be connected to the connecting body by a connecting member which permits the clamp to pivot away from the clamping jaws but which prevents the clamp from being separated and thereby becoming lost.

  • Patent number: 5706558
Abstract: A hose clamp having an elastically flexible clamp band, which is made of metal. A clamping head joins the ends of the clamp band. The clamp band has a slit that extends in the circumferential direction. The slit divides the band into a first edge section and a second edge section. One of the two edge sections includes a spring device (e.g., a corrugation), which creates a spring force in the circumferential direction of the hose clamp over an entire operating temperature range. Thus, the hose clamp sealingly locks a hose in place on a pipe, regardless of any thermally caused expansion or contraction of the hose material.

  • Patent number: 5706557
Abstract: A clamp for hoses, pipes and the like which is intended to prevent leakage due to expansion of the clamp by increased internal pressures. The clamp has a clamping band with two ends. When the clamp is installed and in a generally unstressed condition, a projection on one end is spaced from an abutment on the other end. As internal pressure increases, the clamp expands until the projection engages the abutment. Further expansion is prevented.

  • Patent number: 5620209
Abstract: A device for clamping a hose end section that is fitted onto a pipe end section includes a hose clamp surrounding a hose end section. The hose clamp has overlapping end sections, each of which has an approximately radially outwardly extending tensioning jaw. A securing ring is fixed to the hose end section and has a radial projection. The securing ring surrounds the hose end section and is disposed between the hose end and the hose clamp. The securing ring is joined to the hose clamp in an area diametrically opposite to the area of overlap of the end sections of the hose clamp.
