Patents Assigned to RAVIN CROSSBOWS, LLC
  • Patent number: 9494380
Abstract: A string control assembly for a crossbow having a catch, a sear, a dry fire lockout and a trigger assembly. Engaging the draw string with the catch when in the open position after firing the crossbow generates a force that pushes the catch from the open position to the closed position and automatically (i) couples the sear with the catch at the interface to retain the catch in the closed position, and (ii) moves the dry fire lockout to the lockout position to block the sear from moving to the de-cocked position. In one embodiment, engaging the draw string with the catch automatically moves the safety to the safe position coupled with the sear to retain the sear in the cocked position.

  • Patent number: 9494379
Abstract: A crossbow including first and second cams are mounted to first and second bow limbs, respectively. Each of the cams includes a string guide journal, an upper power cable take-up journal, and a lower power cable take-up journal. The draw string is arranged in a reverse draw configuration. The upper and lower power cables are received in each of the respective upper and lower power cable take-up journals and are displaced away from the respective draw string journals as the bow is drawn from the released configuration to the drawn configuration. In one embodiment, the upper and lower power cable take-up journals are helical in configuration. As a result of this configuration the cams can rotate more than 270 degrees, and preferably more than 300 degrees, as the crossbow is drawn from the released configuration to the drawn configuration.

  • Patent number: 9383159
Abstract: A de-cocking mechanism for a bow having an energy storage assembly mounted to a center support with a draw string that extends across the center support coupled to the energy storage assembly. The bow includes a trigger assembly that retains the draw string in a drawn configuration. The de-cocking mechanism includes a de-cocking actuator that automatically releases the draw string onto the de-cocking mechanism when the de-cocking mechanism engages with the trigger assembly. The user can then manually move the draw string from the drawn configuration to a released configuration. The de-cocking mechanism is preferably combined with a cocking mechanism.

  • Patent number: 9354015
Abstract: A string guide for a bow having a reverse draw configuration with a draw string located adjacent a down-range side of the bow in a released configuration. First and second string guides rotate around first and second axes, respectively, as the draw string is displaced from the released configuration to the drawn configuration. A first power cable take-up journal on the first string guide rotates around the first axis to take up a power cable. The first power cable take-up journal includes a width measured along the first axis at least twice a width of the first power cable. The first power cable is biased away from at least the draw string. The first power cable is translated along the first power cable take-up journal as the bow is drawn from the released configuration to the drawn configuration.

  • Patent number: 9255753
Abstract: An energy storage portion for a bow and a method of configuring the same. At least one first limb has both a distal portion and a proximal portion coupled to the first side of a center support. At least one second limb has both a distal portion and a proximal portion coupled to the second side of the center support. At least one first pulley is attached to the first limb at a location between the distal and the proximal portions of the first limb and at least one second pulley is attached to the second limb at a location between the distal and the proximal portions of the second limb.
