Abstract: A metal plate (126) has a plurality of openings (127) extending through it, and is cleaned using a wet hydrogen process (157). Glass windows (106) are then placed in the openings, and are each fused to the metal plate by heat (231) in a manner so that each window projects outwardly on each side of the plate. Both sides of each window are then simultaneously ground and polished (232). Exposed surfaces of the metal plate are electroplated with nickel and gold (236). One or more coatings (41, 46, 47) are applied to one or both sides of each window. Several sections are then cut from the assembly, each of which can serve as a lid (17) for an optical apparatus (10).

  • Publication number: 20020180557
Abstract: A suspended transmission line with an embedded signal channeling device includes a support layer and a conductor supported by the support layer between first and second plates each having a ground plane. The conductor includes a combined signal line and a plurality of discrete signal lines extending from the combined signal line. The discrete signal lines each transmit a portion of a signal transmitted on the combined signal line. A propagation structure is disposed between the first and second plates to substantially contain an electromagnetic field generated by the propagating signal.

  • Publication number: 20020073223
Abstract: An apparatus for scheduling transmission of a plurality of frames in a network having a plurality of nodes, each frame identified by a type designation, includes a schedule memory and a sequencer. The schedule memory stores a transmission time for each frame type and a list of frames to be transmitted. The sequencer is operable to access the schedule memory and initiate transmission of the frames in the list.

  • Publication number: 20020036304
Abstract: A switch includes a conductive region, a membrane, and a dielectric region. The dielectric region is formed from a dielectric material and is disposed between the membrane and the conductive region. When a sufficient voltage is applied between the conductive region and the membrane, a capacitive coupling between the membrane and the conductive region is effected. The dielectric material has a resistivity sufficiently low to inhibit charge accumulation in the dielectric region during operation of the switch.

  • Publication number: 20010043217
Abstract: The analysis system is a collection, configuration and integration of software programs that reside on multiple interconnected computer platforms. The software, less computer operating systems, is a combination of sensor, analysis, data conversion, and visualization programs. The hardware platforms consist of several different types of interconnected computers, which share the software programs, data files, and visualization programs via a Local Area Network (LAN). This collection and integration of software and the migration to a single computer platform results in an approach to LAN/WAN monitoring in either a passive and/or active mode. The architecture permits digital data input from external sensors for analysis, display and correlation with data and displays derived from four major software concept groups. These are: Virus Computer Code Detection; Analysis of Computer Source and Executable Code; Dynamic Monitoring of Data Communication Networks; 3-D Visualization and Animation of Data.
