  • Patent number: 6155010
Abstract: Window grill clips which can be used to removably attach window grills to windows. The window grill clip has a window frame segment and a grill segment extending from the window frame segment at an upward inclined angle. An opening is defined through the grill segment. A tang connected to the grill segment has a first leg extending away from the grill segment and a second leg extending from the first leg and back toward the opening in the grill segment. The grill segment may have a tab which extends downward from and end of the grill segment opposite an end of the grill segment connected to the window frame segment. Window frame engagement spikes may be provided on the window frame segment.

  • Patent number: 6065785
Abstract: A limiter or stop for a sliding door or sliding panel is provided. The limiter includes a shaft disposed within the escutcheon that is connected to a head. The head includes two spaced-apart holes for frictionally receiving locking rods or bars. The head is further connected to retaining elements for securing the rods in position after insertion. The rods may be manually removed and inserted into either hole in the head. Rods of differing lengths are provided. Accordingly, a single limiter is provided that may be installed in a variety of different positions.

  • Patent number: 6042161
Abstract: A flexible coupling is provided for a lock actuator and a latch assembly. The coupling is particularly useful for sliding glass doors and enables the actuator to be mounted to the door in an axially offset relationship with respect to the connecting member of the latch assembly. The coupling includes a male member that includes an outwardly protruding knuckle that is pivotally and frictionally received in the socket of a female member. The male member is connected to either the lock actuator or the latch assembly while the female connector is connected to the other of the lock actuator or the latch assembly. Rotation of the lock actuator results in rotation of both the male and female member thereby resulting in rotation of the connecting member of the latch assembly even though the actuator is disposed offset from the connecting member.

  • Patent number: 6023952
Abstract: A door handle assembly comprises an interior handle connected to the interior face of a door, a latch mechanism which is operable between latched and unlatched positions to secure the door, an operator mounted to the door and rotatable with respect to the handle, and a rack and pinion assembly to transfer the rotary motion of the operator to the latch mechanism. The operator includes a tumbler assembly. The rack and pinion assembly may include a rack and two pinions one located at each end of the rack. However, other arrangements are possible including gear trains comprising two or three gears driven by the rack. The rack and pinion assembly may be mounted between a pair of planar members which form part of a housing which is proportioned to fit between the latch mechanism and an interior surface of a stile of a door. The rack and pinion assembly permits the latch mechanism and the operator, which have usually been coaxial, to be vertically offset from each other.

  • Patent number: 5950279
Abstract: The present invention provides modular sliding door rollers for use in sliding doors. The modular sliding door rollers have a major roller unit and one or more minor roller units modularly connected together in series. The major and minor roller units have a roller which is adjustable to extend out of and retract into the major and minor roller units by adjusting a roller adjuster on the major roller unit. Two pairs of partially overlapping and divergent roller axle slots are provided on each of the major and minor roller units to provide for extension and retraction of the rollers.

  • Patent number: 5901989
Abstract: A lock system for the inactive door of a two door swinging combination is provided which prevents the active door from being latched or completely closed without locking the inactive door in place against the door frame and/or floor. Further, with the active door closed, the latch of the active door prevents movement of the slider of the inactive door lock mechanism and thereby prevents any unlocking of the inactive door until the latch of the active door has been removed and the active door opened.

  • Patent number: 5890261
Abstract: The present invention provides door handle bases for use in mounting door handles to doors. The door handle base has a base plate having a door handle side and an opposite door side, and a pair of tabs attached to the base plate. The pair of tabs are spaced apart from each other and each tab defines a fastener hole through the tab. A boss protrudes from each tab away from the door side of the base plate and contacts the door when the door handle is mounted to the door by the door handle base. The tabs are removably attached to the base plate by a frangible connection and are useable with multiple door handles and doors.

  • Patent number: 5878606
Abstract: A deadbolt lock system is provided for a swinging door which prevents movement of the deadbolts from a locked position to an unlocked position when the door is open. Movement of the deadbolts from an unlocked to a locked position when the door is opened is prevented by a slide plate which is locked into a deadbolt deactivating position by a plunger which is biased outward when the door is opened. The system also provides for an unlocking of the deadbolts and an opening of the door with a single rotation of the inside handle.

  • Patent number: 5741032
Abstract: The present invention provides a sash lock for double hung windows. The sash lock is fabricated without a spring for biasing the cam into a closed or open position and further without a screw or fastening means to secure the lever, housing and cam together. The four primary components of the sash lock, specifically the lever, housing, cam and keeper mount may be fabricated from injection molded plastic as opposed to metallic materials.

  • Patent number: 5722704
Abstract: A door lock has a latch which is rotatable from a retracted position to an extended position by means of a linkage. A safety button extends from the latch when the latch is retracted. The linkage cannot be moved unless the safety button has been pressed, which occurs when the door is adjacent the door frame. This prevents the latch from extending and so damaging the keeper in the door frame. The linkage also has a notch which cooperates with a tang projecting from the housing. The tang an notch prevent the latch from being rotated from the extended position to the retracted position except by operation of the linkage. This feature makes it difficult to force the lock open without a key. In addition, one or more remote locks may be added to the main lock. With two remote locks it is possible to provide three anchor points for a door.

  • Patent number: 4208068
Abstract: A sliding door lock assembly providing the feature of automatic unlatching if closed when in a latched position along with effective normal operation and burglar resistance. It employs a latch member spring biased to an open position and cammed into a closed or latched position by a lever member. If the latch is in a locked position and is impacted with the door frame upon closing, it is translated and moves the locking lever to an unlocked position. The locking lever includes a jaw portion which engages the latch effectively. The latch is generally T shaped with the head of the T within the housing of the assembly.

  • Patent number: 4068408
Abstract: A vent operator assembly employing a pair of operator arms which simultaneously control the position of an edge opening vent for recreational vehicles and the like. An operator body is secured to the inner side of the recreational vehicle adjacent to the vent opening therein. The body mounts a worm gear extending between a wall of the body and a cup recess in a bridge extending across a sector shaped recess in the body. A pair of operator arms, each including integral gears are journaled in the body from within the sector recess for simultaneous rotation in opposite arcs. The operator arms are relatively rigid except for the outer 16% which is a flexure spring element. Each spring element mounts a roller which engages a track in the edge of the vent cover opposite its hinged side. Upon rotation of a knob connected to the worm gear, the operator arms move simultaneously in the opposite direction to either open or close the vent cover.

  • Patent number: 4061370
Abstract: A window latch and handle assembly exhibiting an attractive appearance while providing a high degree of strength and small size. The assembly employs a pair of body members which are secured to a door or window frame and a unitary handle and latch. The handle extends from one side of the assembly of the two body parts and the latch from the opposite side thereof. A lock member with an elongated arm surface engages a key slot in the handle and latch. When in one orientation, the locking member allows the handle and latch to move laterally against the resistance of return spring and when turned 90.degree., effectively prevents movement of the handle and latch by direct broad area contact with one of the body parts. When rotated 90.degree., the lock member rests in the key slot allowing limited movement of the handle and latch to release the door or window.
