    Abstract: A mechanical power-transmission system with chain including a mechanical tightener acting on a branch of the chain and having in turn a base, a tightening shoe in dragging contact with the chain and a sliding wedge under the thrust of a first spring in an irreversible manner between the base and the shoe to cause progressive withdrawal of the base and the shoe in the tightening direction of the chain so that between the wedge and the shoe there is an elastic thrust member for thrusting the shoe in the tightening direction.

    Abstract: Chain tightener comprising a first supporting surface (11) on one branch (12) of the chain and a second supporting surface (13) on the other branch (14) of the chain with each supporting surface (11,13) being connected to a respective drive piston (19,119,20,120) into which is fed fluid for thrust in a tightening direction of the respective chain branch with the hydraulic circuits of the two pistons interconnected so that when one piston (19,119 or 20,120) is thrust in the direction opposite tightening from the tight branch of the chain it sends its fluid into the other piston (20,120 or 19,119) to thrust it to tighten the corresponding slack chain branch.

  • Chain with seals having improved characteristics

    Abstract: A chain has links made up of pairs of outer and inner plates connected respectively by pins and bushes fitted on the pins and projecting through the inner plates. Between the bush and its pin there is a lubricated interface and on each end of the bush is mounted and compressed between an inner and an outer plate an annular seal. The seal when not compressed between the plates is generically shaped with a lip projecting towards the axis of the seal. With the chain assembled the lip tends to wedge between the bush and the outer plate to reduce the wear on the seal.
