Abstract: Provided are a touch display control device and an information terminal device, which are arranged so that the noise resulting from the actions for activation and display on a display panel, and the noise caused by the actions of activation and detection on a touch sensor never affects each other, and are useful for suppressing the elicitation of the difference in brightness attributed to non-display in a display frame. The information terminal device includes: a display controller operable to change start timings of display and non-display periods in a cycle of a frame synchronizing signal of a display frame, in each cycle of the frame synchronizing signal or each sequence of cycles thereof; and a touch panel controller operable to perform the activation of a touch panel and a touch detection during the non-display period.

Abstract: A display panel driver includes an image data generator, a brightness correction circuit performing a correction calculation on image data, a drive section driving the display panel in response to corrected image data; and a display timing generator outputting a timing control signal. The correction calculation by the brightness correction circuit is adjustable. When the display panel driver is placed into a test mode, the display timing generator is configured to output an internally-generated timing control signal and the image data generator outputs internally-generated evaluation image data. The evaluation image data are generated so that the evaluation images are switched from one to another in response to the internally-generated timing control signal.

Abstract: A semiconductor device connected to the display panel including the in-cell type touch sensor is configured as follows. The semiconductor device includes a driving circuit of the display panel, a touch sensing circuit of the touch sensor, a power supply circuit that supplies a power source to these circuits, and a bias control circuit that controls a bias current flowing through these circuits. The semiconductor device is able to perform a time-division operation in which one frame period of display is divided into a plurality of display driving periods and sensing periods. In the display driving periods, the supply of power to the touch sensing circuit is suppressed, and/or a bias current is reduced. In the sensing periods, the supply of power to the driving circuit is suppressed, and/or a bias current is reduced.

  • Publication number: 20140164806
Abstract: An integrated circuit device includes first and second integrated circuits and a power supply line. The first integrated circuit includes a first power supply circuit, a timing generation circuit generating a synchronization signal, and a first power supply control section. The second integrated circuit includes a second power supply circuit and a second power supply control section. The power supply line electrically connects the outputs of the first and second power supply circuit. The first and second power supply control sections are each configured to start the operations of the first and second power supply circuits, respectively, in response to a start of a supply of the synchronization signal after a sleep-out command is supplied thereto. The timing generation circuit starts supplying the synchronization signal after a predetermined waiting time elapses after the sleep-out command is supplied to the first integrated circuit.

  • Publication number: 20140145985
Abstract: The semiconductor device has a touch panel controller, a processor and a display driver. The semiconductor device is arranged so as to reduce an electric power uselessly consumed while the action of the display driver is stopped or suspended and further, and an electric power uselessly consumed by the touch-detecting action for recovery of the display driver from the state of the action being stopped or suspended. The processor built in the semiconductor device together with the touch panel controller and the display driver returns to its workable state from Sleep state each time a given length of time elapses, and then causes the touch panel to perform a touch-detecting action. When the processor cannot acquire a result of judgment as “being touched”, it returns to Sleep state again, and waits for the given length of time to elapse.

  • Publication number: 20140145986
Abstract: The semiconductor device has a touch panel controller, a processor, and a display driver. The display driver has a memory circuit which rewritably stores control data for drive control of a display panel from outside the semiconductor device. The processor controls the touch panel controller based on a command provided from outside the semiconductor device, and accesses control data in the memory circuit for controlling internal parts of the semiconductor device. With the aid of the arrangement like this, the processor is allowed to control a touch panel based on the read control data fit to the control by the display driver, and to control, by writing control data, the display panel fit for a control condition of the touch panel.

  • Publication number: 20140146010
Abstract: The touch panel controller is connected with a touch panel having a plurality of drive electrodes, a plurality of detection electrodes, and a plurality of capacitance components formed at intersections of the drive and detection electrodes. A two-edge detection mode is adopted for the touch panel controller, in which signals arising on each detection electrode in synchronization with rising and falling edges of a drive pulse output to the drive electrodes, and alternately changing in polarity are accumulated in the integration circuit in terms of absolute value components. The integration circuit switches the connection of the integration capacitance between an input and an output before the drive pulse edge changing. The touch panel controller contributes to the shortening of the time for touch detection by the touch panel and the increase of the accuracy of touch detection.

  • Publication number: 20140092061
Abstract: It becomes possible to use drive pulses having different pulse widths for one kind of drive pulse signal period. Therefore, even if a voltage acting on a crossing part of drive and detection electrodes is periodically changed through a stray capacitance attributed to an external object such as a finger in an undesired manner, the pulse width of the drive pulse is never fixed with respect to the period, and the periodic buildup of a certain voltage on a detection signal, which would make appreciable noise, is suppressed. Thus, the reduction of detection signals can be suppressed in quantity without switching the pulse signal frequency of the drive pulse of a touch panel.
