  • Publication number: 20010031683
Abstract: A generator drive for matching the rotation speed of a gas turbine to an electricity generator. The drive from the gas turbine is introduced by a sun wheel into planet gears of a first epicyclic gear stage and is driven via further planet gears of a second epicyclic gear stage, which are each arranged on a common planet gear shaft with the planet gears of the first gear stage, by an annular gear to the generator. The planet gear shafts are mounted in bushes which can each be inserted complete with the planet gears into openings on a supporting wall of the drive. With respect to their distances from the bearing, the planet gears are arranged on the planet gear shaft such that the moments which result from the circumferential forces about the bearing essentially cancel one another out.

  • Patent number: 5713671
Abstract: An adjustable bearing assembly includes a bearing housing and a bearing body fixed to a carrier and disposed within the housing. Set screws are provided to adjustably position the carrier, hence the bearing body relative to the housing without disassembling the bearing. After the bearing body position has been adjusted, cap screws are employed to fix the carrier against movement relative to the housing and relative to a support surface. In an alternate embodiment, the carrier is in engagement with an inner eccentric ring which, in turn, is engaged by an outer eccentric ring, both rotatably mounted within the housing. The axes of the eccentric rings are spaced from one another and are parallel to the axis of the rotating shaft. Rotation of the eccentric rings relative to one another and to the housing adjusts the position of the bearing body.

  • Patent number: 5529399
Abstract: A combined journal-thrust bearing assembly includes a bearing body formed of upper and lower sections secured together at an axial plane. To the axial ends of the bearing body, thrust rings are removably mounted with the thrust rings also being formed of segments, the ends of which lie in the axial plane. Extending through a bore defined by the bearing face of a journal liner is a rotating shaft having a pair of spaced collars. The collars abut bearing faces of the thrust rings to prevent axial movement of the shaft relative to the bearing assembly. Disassembly of the bearing body about the axial plane facilitates repair or replacement of the bearing body sections, the liner, or worn thrust rings independently of one another. An oil delivery system is also provided for lubricating the interface between the shaft and the journal bearing face as well as lubricating the interface between the thrust bearing faces and the shaft collars.

  • Patent number: 4995276
Abstract: A drive system includes a vehicle propulsion drive having a speed change gear box which drives tracks through a pair of planetary gears and a steering drive having a pair of variable hydrostatic drives. The hydrostatic drives engage a neutral shaft which superimposes rotation on the planetary gears to provide steering control for the tracks. The neutral shaft is separable into two segments. A differental reversing gear may be employed to selectively couple the neutral shaft segments. When the vehicle travels at high speed, the neutral shaft segments are coupled for unitary rotation. At low vehicle speeds, the propulsion drive is blocked and the neutral shaft segments are uncoupled so that both propulsion and steering are provided through the hydrostatic drives.

  • Patent number: 4962680
Abstract: An engine (4) of a drive system (2) is adjusted and controlled by a main controller (24). When the main controller (24) breaks down, the operation of the engine can still be continued as emergency operation with an emergency controller (26). However, the controlling functions of the latter are not as optimum as those of the main controller (24). This functional deficiency of the emergency controller (26) is compensated for at least partly by an emergency program of an electronic transmission control device (28). To compensate for the functional deficiency of the emergency controller (26), the transmission control device (28) appropriately controls or regulates a transmission unit (6, 8, 10) of the drive system (2), which comprises a hydrodynamic torque converter (8) with a bridging clutch (10) that can bridge the latter, and a gear-shift mechanism (6).
