  • Patent number: 5190464
Abstract: A shielded electrical connector comprises an insulating terminal housing formed of a base member and a cover member. The housing has a front mating face, a rear wire-connecting face and a terminal supporting platform extending between the two faces. Four electrical terminals are mounted on the terminal supporting platform with contact portions disposed in the area of the mating face and wire-connecting portions disposed in the area of the wire-connecting face. Each contact portion includes a resilient contact tongue spaced from the platform and having a free end extending away from the mating face. Each contact tongue is matable against a corresponding contact tongue of the complementary connector to urge the contact tongues toward the respective platforms from which they are supported. An electrical shunting device is fixedly mounted in the housing and disposed adjacent to the contact tongues in the area of the free ends thereof.

  • Patent number: 5112243
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a housing having a plurality of contacts therein adapted to mate with contacts of another, mateable connecting device and a latching member for mechanically interlocking with the other connecting device. The latching member includes an elongate latching member having two opposite ends which is captively supported by a pivot on said housing. The pivot is located generally intermediate the two ends of the latching member such that its ends may move generally transversely of the longitudinal direction of the latching member toward and away from the housing to permit interlocking with the other connecting device. The latching member also includes a movable locking member, captively supported on said latching member, for slidable movement thereon in the longitudinal direction of the latching member between a first position and a second position.

  • Patent number: 5104337
Abstract: An electrical connector comprises a housing having an opening for an electrical cable and a strain relief device for holding a cable in position in said opening. The strain relief device includes two half sections which may be separated to permit the insertion of a cable and then pressed together to surround an inserted cable. The half sections have cooperating recessed portions which, when the half sections are pressed together with the recessed portions in facing relationship, form an opening therethrough for the cable. At least one of said recessed portions has at least one inwardly directed projection for holding the cable. The strain relief device also includes an element for holding the half sections together when a cable has been inserted in the recessed portions thereof and the half sections have been pressed together.

  • Patent number: 5088934
Abstract: An electrical terminal for mechanically holding and electrically contacting an electrically insulated wire or cable. The terminal includes an electrically conductive, elongate, resilient strip having a free first end and a slot, extending in the longitudinal direction from the first end, for receiving the wire or cable. An opening in the strip, which is in communication with the slot, has an internal diameter which is greater than the narrowest width of the slot. To facilitate electrically contacting another terminal, the electrical terminal comprises a base and an electrically conductive, elongate strip attached thereto having a second end for contacting the other terminal. The strip comprises a first element forming the free first end, and a second, separate element forming the second end, the first element being rigidly attached to the base and having a third, opposite end for resiliently supporting the second end of the second element.

  • Patent number: 4208904
Abstract: A method of measuring long shaft torque by pre-recording two magnetic tapes, through air gaps, with similar continuous sine wave signals; and by fixing the pre-recorded tapes spaced longitudinally apart as loops around the long shaft at no torque load, and with the continuous sine wave signals of the respective tape loops in approximate phase; and by each tape loop being opposed by a pair of air-spaced, diametrically positioned playback heads, one pair being rotationally adjustable to precisely synchronize the phases of the sine wave signals of both tapes, and both pairs of playback heads cooperating to pick up sine wave signals from both tape loops; and by transmitting the sine wave signals for each side, respectively, to an associated electronic circuit, each circuit for producing an analog voltage proportional to half of the transmitted torque of the long shaft as it rotates under a torque load and plus and minus voltage errors due to rotating long shaft skew; and by finally summing and integrating the hal

  • Patent number: 3935733
Abstract: A dynamometer in which a signal generator provides a repetitive signal of adjustable frequency, to record-playback heads fixed adjacent to similar magnetic recording mediums that are non-magnetically mounted and spaced axially apart on a drive shaft rotating without loads. Simultaneous recordings are made by the heads on the mediums and the signal generator switched off. With the rotating shaft loaded, the recordings are played back by the axially spaced recording-playback heads, and a phase difference between the recorded signal from each head is a measure of torque on the shaft. The frequency of recorded signal from either head is a measure of the speed of rotation of the shaft. The playback signals drive an electronic computer of well know design that multiplies the measure of torque by the measure of speed of rotation to provide a voltage proportional to shaft horsepower to a voltmeter that may be calibrated to read directly in horsepower given the elastic modulus of shaft material and shaft dimensions.
