Patents Assigned to Research Institute of Advanced Material Gas-Generator
  • Patent number: 6331496
Abstract: The composite includes inorganic fiber for reinforcement and a matrix of 40 to 95% by weight of silicon carbide ceramic and 5 to 60% by weight of an oxide phase dispersed in the silicon carbide ceramic. The oxide phase forms a continuous network structure in the matrix and includes ZrSiO4, BaO—MgO—Al2O3—SiO2 glass ceramic or Sro—Al2O3—SiO2 glass ceramic. The matrix surrounds and fills voids between the inorganic fiber.

  • Patent number: 5840390
Abstract: An FRM disc preform for manufacturing an FRM disc used as compressor rotors f aircraft engines. The FRM disc preform (1) of the present invention includes a reinforcing fiber (2) wound in a spiral shape with flat faces and a spray coating (7) of a matrix metal formed on one of the flat faces of the spirally wound reinforcing fiber (2) to hold the spiral shape by fixing the upper layer and the lower layer of the spiral. Thereby, the spiral shape is held tightly without collapsing and handling in a laminating process and a combined forming process becomes extremely simplified, and thus the manufacturing efficiency and accuracy of the FRM disc can be enhanced.

  • Patent number: 5728445
Abstract: A fastening member is formed from a fiber-reinforced ceramic composite material, in which a ceramic material is reinforced with a plurality of inorganic long fibers. The inorganic long fibers are located in the ceramic material such that first orientated layers, in which the inorganic long fibers are orientated in a predetermined direction, and second orientated layers, in which the inorganic long fibers are orientated in a direction different from the direction of orientation of the inorganic long fibers in the first orientated layers, may be laminated alternately.

  • Patent number: 5657405
Abstract: The object of the invention is to offer an optical fiber sensor for measuring pressure or displacement having a simple, compact and light-weight structure, which is capable of performing high-precision range, displacement and pressure measurements over a wide range of temperatures. The optical fiber sensor has a drive control circuit 2 which controls a laser diode 1 to emit a laser beam, which is then split by an optical fiber coupler 4. An optical fiber coupler 7 directs one portion of the split laser beam to an optical fiber 10, and the other portion to an optical fiber 16. A portion of the laser beam propagating through the optical fiber 10 is reflected at the end surface 10a of the optical fiber 10 as a reference beam, while the rest of the laser beam is reflected at a peripheral portion of a diaphragm 12 to be incident upon the end surface 10a as a reflected beam. The two beams form an interference beam which is then split by the optical fiber couple.sub.r 7.

  • Patent number: 5513952
Abstract: An axial flow compressor is disclosed. The axial flow compressor has a casing defining a compression passage therein. The casing has an inner surface and a center axis extending along the elongated direction of the casing. A plurality of rotor blades fixed to a disk rotate in the compression passage around the center axis. Each of the rotor blades has a tip, and the tip defines a rotation area having a width extending in the direction along the center axis. A circular concavity is formed on the inner surface of the casing extending completely around the inner surface. The circular concavity has a continuous curved shape in a sectional view, and the circular concavity is formed at a portion corresponding to a front part of the rotation area of the rotor blades.
