The plates have a plurality of ratchets on their outer periphery and a locking slot formed in the edge of the plates. The locking assembly has a spring biased locking pin disposed between two plats such that the pin engages the plates to lock the hinge or allow limited movement.

Upper end and lower end straps secure the leg support portion to the leg of the patient. A horizontal break line is formed in each of the arms between the upper end and lower end straps permitting a user to selectively sever the arms on the break lines to accommodate different patient uses of the ankle brace.

    Abstract: A dorsal resting hand orthosis has a substantially rigid splint member which has a wrist portion adapted to fit and receive the dorsal side of a patient's wrist. The splint also includes two lateral supports connected to a finger portion. The lateral supports are wide enough to allow a patient's knuckles to slide easily in between. The finger portion is attached to a thumb portion and together are adapted to receive the cupped hand of a patient who has their fingers juxtapositioned with the thumb in space gripping position opposite of the patient's fingers. A resilient liner extends along the inner surface of the splint and is easily removable. Straps are secured to the liner to secure the splint to the patient's forearm, wrist, fingers, and thumb.

    Abstract: The hip abductor hinge for a hip stabilizer includes a top, middle and bottom connector with hubs and circular apertures that engage a locking device. The bottom and middle hubs have splines on the interior portion of the hubs. The locking device has splines on the exterior portion and interlock with the splines of the bottom and middle connector. The locking device also has a threaded central bore which extends from the interior portion of the locking device through the circular aperture of the top connector. A screw extends through the circular apertures and the threaded central bore. The position of the middle connector can be adjusted by rotating the screw such that the locking device disengages with the bottom circular aperture, rotating the middle connector, and then rotating the screw such that the locking device reengages with the bottom circular aperture.

A cylindrical pouch is pivotally secured to the cover adjacent the hand portion and is normally movably positioned adjacent the finger portion. The cylindrical pad in the pouch has a securing element to secure the pouch in a pivotal position on the orthosis adjacent the finger portion in a position to accommodate the patient's thumb. A strap element is on the outside of the pouch to extend over the thumb of the patient wearing the orthosis to retain the thumb of the patient whose hand and fingers are supported on the hand and finger portions of the orthosis.

An elongated toe plate has an aperture therein which communicates with a forwardly extending elongated slot. A planar sole plate is rigidly secured to a lower surface of the toe plate and has an aperture therein communicating with a rearwardly extending elongated slot. The apertures are adapted to register with each other to permit the head of the attachment screw to extend through the apertures.

    Abstract: A therapeutic device for correcting ankle contractures affecting the angle between the leg and foot including a generally L-shaped two-piece frame having a leg portion and a foot rest portion pivotally connected to the leg portion; and adjustable length ankle strap mounted on the frame for securing the frame to the ankle; a pair of adjustable length tension adjusting straps which are operatively mounted between the leg portion and the foot portion for putting steady yet releasable pressure for decreasing the angle between the leg portion and foot portion such that tension is applied to the ankle and the foot is drawn closer to the leg. Furthermore, a laterally split anklet having right and left flaps releasably fastenable to each other and pockets which slide over the free ends of the frame portions is detachably connected thereto. The anklet wraps around parts of the foot and leg to cushion and protect them from direct contact with the frame. The anklet holds the leg and foot to the frame.
