Patent number: 7769783Abstract: Methods and systems for computing algebraic equations are disclosed, with particular relevance to financial analytics. Analytic formulas may be represented as data, and the analytic system may be structured as a kind of an analytic interpretation engine in a database layer of a system. Because analytic formulas may be represented as data in some table or tables, analytics can be added, deleted or modified without having to make changes to the analytic engine's source code. The analytic engine may be implemented in some relational language, such as a dialect of SQL, to manipulate and compute the analytic formulas stored in the database.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2004Date of Patent: August 3, 2010Assignee: Reuters LimitedInventors: David Rozenshtein, Sandip Mehta

Patent number: 7505915Abstract: A negotiated matching system includes a plurality of remote terminals associated with respective potential counterparties, a communications network for permitting communication between the remote terminals, and a matching station. Each user enters trading information and ranking information into his or her remote terminal. The matching station then uses the trading and ranking information from each user to identify transactions between counterparties that are mutually acceptable based on the ranking information, thereby matching potential counterparties to a transaction. Once a match occurs, the potential counterparties transmit negotiating messages to negotiate some or all terms of the transaction. Thus, the negotiated matching system first matches potential counterparties who are acceptable to each other based on trading and ranking information, and then enables the two counterparties to negotiate and finalize the terms of a transaction.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 2002Date of Patent: March 17, 2009Assignee: Reuters LimitedInventors: David L. Publication number: 20080123976Abstract: A system and method for remote picture editing is provided. High-resolution digital image files containing metadata are uploaded onto a hub from computers local to one or more photographers at an event. Lower-resolution copies of the digital images are made and are sent over the Internet to a web server. The web server notifies an editor that the lower-resolution images are available. The editor views the lower-resolution copies over the Internet, selects the images to be used, and using image-processing software, sets editing instructions to be applied to the image. Once the selected image is edited in accordance with the editor's instructions, the edited image is sent to a processor for final editing and application of additional metadata. The processor sends the finalized image to a reviewer for a final check before the image is sent to news and media outlets for publication.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 22, 2006Publication date: May 29, 2008Applicant: REUTERS LIMITEDInventors: Kevin Coombs, Vasko Tomanov, Jason Whetton

Publication number: 20060059082Abstract: A matching computer is provided for a negotiated matching system that includes a plurality of remote terminals associated with respective potential counterparties, a communications network for permitting communication between the remote terminals, and the matching computer. Each user enters first parameters for a trading instrument into his or her remote terminal. The matching computer uses the trading parameters from each user to identify potential transactions between counterparties that are mutually acceptable based on the first parameters, thereby matching potential counterparties to a potential transaction. Once a match occurs, the potential counterparties can transmit negotiating messages to negotiate some or all terms of the transaction.
