Patents Assigned to Rheo-Technology, Ltd.
  • Patent number: 5697425
Abstract: Thin cast sheets having an excellent quality are obtained by continuous casting in which a semi-solidified metal slurry is fed from a continuous production device of the semi-solidified metal slurry through a discharge nozzle provided with means for heating the nozzle itself into a twin roll type continuous strip caster, at where the slurry is rapidly quenched and solidified to fine a structure and dispersion of precipitate.

  • Patent number: 5555926
Abstract: A semi-solidified metal composition having an excellent workability is continuously produced by pouring molten metal into an upper part of a cooling agitation mold, agitating it while cooling to produce a slurry of solid-liquid mixed phase containing non-dendritic primary solid particles dispersed therein and discharging out the slurry from a lower part of the cooling agitation mold. In this case, a ratio of shear strain rate at a solid-liquid interface to solidification rate of molten metal is adjusted to a value exceeding 8000 in the cooling agitation mold.

  • Patent number: 5513688
Abstract: Dispersion strengthened metal matrix composites are produced by stirring a mixed solid-liquid phase slurry as a dispersing medium under a reduced pressure, adding a dispersion strengthening material to the dispersing medium, and continuing the stirring under the reduced pressure till the dispersion strengthening material is uniformly dispersed in the dispersing medium.

  • Patent number: 5287719
Abstract: When a semi-solidified metal composition is formed in a forging die assembly, it is formed under conditions satisfying particular mass fraction solid and flowing rate in the die and then held under a given pressure until the metal composition is completely solidified.

  • Patent number: 5205981
Abstract: In a method and an apparatus for producing a solid-liquid metal mixture in which non-dendritic primary solid particles are dispersed into the remaining liquid matrix through electromagnetic induction system, a core member is arranged inside a cooling agitation tank provided with an electromagnetic induction coil therearound.

  • Patent number: 5144998
Abstract: Semi-solidified metal compositions are stably produced by pouring molten metal into a cooling agitation vessel, agitating it while cooling to produce a slurry of semi-solidified metal composition at a solid-liquid coexistent state and discharging out the semi-solidified metal composition from a discharge port of the vessel. In this case, the cooling agitation is carried out so that a relation of fraction solid, solidification rate and shear rate satisfies the following equation (1).eta.=a/2(1/f.sub.s -1/f.sub.scr).ltoreq.10 (1).
