Patents Assigned to Richard Bergner Verbindungstechnik GmbH & Co. KG
  • Patent number: 11344945
Abstract: A device and the method serve to set a connecting element, in particular a press-in bolt, on a workpiece. By means of a setting unit, a hole punching operation for introducing a hole and, at the same time, a hole-forming operation are carried out, in which an edge of the hole is deep-drawn using an embossing sleeve and a collar is formed. In a second stage, the connecting element is pressed in, the punching and hole-forming operation and the pressing taking place within the same axial axis without the workpiece being laterally displaced relative to the device.

  • Patent number: 11028868
Abstract: A press-fit connection between a high-strength component and a press-fit element is characterized by a non-circular previously made hole into which the press-fit element having a collar is inserted. Here, the collar is merely upset and pressed against a hole rim without embracing an underside of the component. Preferably, the hole rim is widened in a longitudinal direction such that a form-locking connection acting in opposition to the longitudinal direction is formed. The non-circular hole geometry is produced with the aid of a punch of circular cross sectional geometry, in that a cutter of the punch has leading and recessed cutting regions, with the result that disrupted partial regions are formed.

  • Patent number: 10871181
Abstract: In a method for producing a connecting element, in particular a bolt, a zinc anti-friction coating is applied to a blank made of a metallic base material. Subsequently, the coated blank is deformed in a deformation process to a desired final geometry of the bolt. The deformation process may, in particular, be a thread rolling process. The anti-friction coating is applied in particular by way of a zinc diffusion method. The bolt is in particular an engine bolt, specifically a connecting rod bolt. A bolt of this type has a durability as conventional bolts, but at the same time can be mounted repeatedly by virtue of the formation of the special anti-friction coating without the coefficients of friction increasing above permissible limits.

  • Patent number: 10799938
Abstract: A setting unit and a method for setting a connecting element on a work piece. The setting unit has a hold-down clamp. A punch is displaceably mounted in the hold-down clamp, is drivable in a feed direction by way of a plunger and has a front punch head, and a punch sleeve which surrounds the punch head. The punch sleeve is movable together with the punch in the feed direction to a first stroke position. The punch head is movable relative to the punch sleeve to a second stroke position such that it is possible to carry out both a hole punching operation and a setting operation by way of the one punch in connection with the punch sleeve.

  • Patent number: 10794417
Abstract: A self-punching press-fit element, in particular a punching nut, has a head part with a head bearing for bearing on a component, as well as a punching collar having an end-side cutting edge. An undercut is configured between the punching collar and the head bearing. An encircling displacement web is configured so as to adjoin the punching collar on the head bearing, the encircling displacement web being adjoined in the radial direction by a further external region of the head bearing. The further external region in the longitudinal direction is set back in relation to the displacement web. During the configuration of the press-fit connection, material is press-fitted from the upper side of the component into the undercut by the displacement web. A deformation of the lower side of the component is preferably not performed.

  • Patent number: 10322477
Abstract: A feed unit is used to feed connection elements from a receiving position to a transfer position along a feed direction. The feed unit has a receiving part to which each connection element can be fed individually. A head piece is movably mounted in the receiving part and has a receiving region for the nuts, and a thrust unit to move the head piece. The head piece is rotated from a first rotational position into a second rotational position, being reached in an intermediate position, by a rotary device. A slider element moves relative to the head piece out of the intermediate position into a transfer position within the head piece such that the nuts are brought out of the head piece into the transfer position. The rotary device has a mechanical forced guidance unit which includes a control sleeve with a curved path into which a control element engages.

  • Patent number: 10208779
Abstract: An assembly unit includes an assembly part penetrated by a through opening and a cylindrical sleeve which is captively fixed in the through opening. The sleeve has at least one spring element which protrudes from an external face of the sleeve by an excess length in a non-assembled state. The excess length is dimensioned such that the spring element is elastically moved radially inward by contact with the wall of the through opening when the sleeve is introduced into the through opening, so that the spring element presses against the wall 4 of the through opening as a result of elastic restoring forces.

  • Patent number: 9687903
Abstract: An assembly unit is produced according to the following method steps: an assembly part is provided which does not yet have a through bore. A disc-shaped welding element blank with a first end side, a second end side and a peripheral surface is stamped out of a sheet metal blank by a punch and a hole die so that the peripheral surface has a cylindrical longitudinal portion extending away from the first end side, and an adjoining cone portion which tapers towards the second end side and forms with this a cutting edge. The welding element blank is stamped with the cutting edge at the front into the assembly part to thereby form the through bore.

  • Patent number: 9527172
Abstract: In order to reliably ensure a press-in connection between joining elements, in particular a press-in nut and a pre-punched component, a press-in device contains a die which has a die ring and a die mandrel. The die mandrel is mounted counter to a spring force in the manner of a pilot pin. In addition, the die ring is also mounted counter to a spring force such that a two-stage press-in operation is carried out. Preferably, during a first press-in stage an anti-rotation lock is formed between the press-in nut and the component and in a second press-in stage an axial pull-out prevention measure is formed. To this end, the die mandrel deforms a nut flange.

  • Patent number: 9339865
Abstract: An electric drive for a processing tool, in particular for a rivet setting appliance, has an electric motor connected to an actuating element that is linearly displaceable in an axial direction. A damping element that acts in the axial direction is arranged between the electric motor and the actuating element for impact decoupling of the electric motor from the actuating element. As a result, sudden loads, for example if a rivet mandrel breaks during the blind rivet setting operation, are absorbed in a material-conserving manner.

  • Patent number: 9289818
Abstract: The device for reversibly gripping a rivet mandrel has a tension head with a mouthpiece sleeve and a clamping jaw sleeve axially movable in the mouthpiece sleeve and accommodating a plurality of clamping jaws. The clamping jaws reversibly grip the rivet mandrel during an axial displacement of the clamping jaw sleeve and the clamping jaws are furthermore held by an elastic holding element. The jaws are displaceable relative to one another independently of an actuation by the clamping jaw sleeve. This enables improved introduction and gripping of the rivet mandrel, especially for fully automated blind rivet operations, for example with blind rivet robots. Due to the elastic holding of the clamping jaws, wear on one side of the clamping jaws is avoided. Also, a controlled displacement of the clamping jaws independently of the clamping jaw sleeve is provided.
