Patents Assigned to Ricoh Company, Limted
  • Patent number: 9102185
Abstract: A sheet processing apparatus includes: a stacking unit that stacks conveyed sheets; an aligning unit that aligns the sheets stacked on the stacking unit in a sheet conveying direction; a binding unit that moves along an end portion of a bundle of the sheets on a binding portion side and performs a binding process for the bundle of the sheets that have been aligned by the aligning unit; a pressing unit that presses the bundle of the sheets at the end portion thereof on the binding portion side; and an interlocking unit that moves the pressing unit in association with a motion of the binding unit.

  • Patent number: 8069241
Abstract: A method and apparatus for establishing a communication means for an interfacing device that utilizes a communication means hierarchy to decipher a communication means to be used by other hardware devices so that they may operative cooperatively. Particularly, a controlling device queries an interfacing device for the manufacturer of the interfacing device. If the manufacturer is determinable, then the controlling device queries the interfacing device for the model of the interfacing device. This querying for the model utilizes the identity of the manufacturer by using communication means that are particular to the manufacturer to query the interfacing device. Based on the information queried from the interfacing device, the controlling device is able to decipher the best known communication means for the interfacing device.

  • Patent number: 8002261
Abstract: A starting unit starts, in parallel with a blowing operation for a first tray, a blowing operation for a second tray that is to perform a feeding operation next. When a predetermined time elapses after starting the blowing operation for the second tray, a feeding unit switches from the first tray to the second tray, and feeds the recording medium from the second tray. When the blowing operation is performed for a number of trays before switching the trays and the number of trays is equal to or larger than a predetermined number, a control unit limits the number of trays for performing the blowing operation.

  • Patent number: 7966440
Abstract: An image processing controller performs transmission and processing of image data by connecting an engine and a CPU connected via a chipset. A first controller controls communication with the chipset via a first PCI-Express I/F. A second controller controls communication with the engine when it is connected via a second PCI-Express I/F. A third controller controls communication with the engine when it is connected via a PCI I/F. The first controller receives, on behalf of the engine, an access from the CPU to the engine and inhibits a reference by the CPU to a resource connected to the image processing controller.

  • Patent number: 7946569
Abstract: A sheet aligning device includes a transport path, a movable fence, a tapping tab, and jogger fences. The transport path transports a sheet stack. The movable fence and the tapping tab align the sheet stack in a first direction in which the sheet stack is transported on the transport path. The jogger fences align the sheet stack in a direction perpendicular to the first direction on the transport path. The movable fence, the tapping tab, and the jogger fences align the sheet stack according to a plurality of aligning modes.

  • Patent number: 7884973
Abstract: A white-level correcting unit makes an image reading unit read a white reference board, and sets a parameter corresponding to a value read by the image reading unit. A carriage includes a light source that irradiates the document, and moves in a sub-scanning direction with respect to a document to be read. When shifting to an energy-saving mode, the image reading device moves the carriage to a position of the white reference board before entering to the energy-saving mode.

  • Patent number: 7868649
Abstract: A processing unit carries out a predetermined data processing on the data in a storage unit. The storage unit is connected to the processing unit with a plurality of connecting lines. A voltage generating unit is connected to each of the connecting lines via a corresponding termination resistor and that generates a termination voltage to be applied to the connecting lines. An interrupting unit is connected between the connecting lines and the termination resistors, and it applies or does not apply the termination voltage to the connecting lines depending on a data processing state of the processing unit.

  • Patent number: 7376380
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes units for electrostatically charging a surface of an image carrier, exposing the surface according to image data to write a latent image, supplying a toner to the latent image to form a visible image, and transferring the visible image from the surface to another surface. A rotatable brush roller and a cleaning blade in contact with the surface removes remaining toner. Another brush roller rotates and scrapes lubricant to apply the lubricant to the surface. The image forming apparatus has a lubricant consumption of 0.1 gram to 1.2 grams per 1,500 meters of a traveling distance of the image carrier.
