Abstract: Housing for installation in a window frame having a window sash with a notch defining a pair of opposed edges. Each housing includes side walls and a top wall extending beyond the side walls to define a flange. Each housing further includes protuberances, such as triangular protuberances, projecting from the side walls. Each protuberance is spaced from the flange to define respective gaps for receiving opposed edges therein.
Abstract: Plural protuberances are provided along each side of a tilt latch or pivot housing. The protuberances each form an edge that engage an edge of a notch in a window sash. The protuberances are provided with flexible fingers that are flexed or sheared by the sash edges to provide a snug fit.

Abstract: Plural retainers are provided along each side of a tilt latch or pivot housing. The retainers each form an engagement surface that engages an edge of a notch in a window sash. The tilt latch retainers are flared upwardly and beveled rearwardly to facilitate installation longitudinally or vertically. The pivot retainers are flared downwardly and beveled rearwardly to facilitate installation longitudinally or vertically.
Abstract: A brake is disposed in a window frame. The brake includes a cam that causes the brake to engage the frame to resist movement of the brake. The cam is operated by a pivot assembly mounted in a sash of the window. A body of the pivot assembly slides into a notch in the sash and is retained by a detent. The pivot assembly includes an eccentric pivot bar that is received in an eccentric passage of the cam. The pivot bar engages a stop in the body and has a detent that engages a lip in the body.
Abstract: A tumbler is pivotably mounted in a sash lock housing. In an extended position, an end of the tumbler limits movement of a window sash. A post in the housing extends through an eccentric bore in the tumbler. The bore defines a shelf or protrusion that urges the tumbler into engagement with the housing, thereby preventing over-rotation of the tumbler in the extended position. A spring urges the tumbler toward the extended position and cooperates with the protrusion to urge the tumbler into engagement with the housing.
