Publication number: 20080196327Abstract: A crypt arrangement (10) for a cemetery comprises upright hollow cells (11) and upright angled sections (12, 13, 14) arranged in a layer. Burial crypts are formed by spaces within the cells (11), and by spaces between the cells and the angled sections (12, 13, 14). At least one planting zone (22) is formed by a space at least partially defined by some of the cells (11) and the angled sections (12, 13, 14). Each cell (11) is generally rectangular when viewed from above, and comprises a continuous upright wall formed from a pair of generally parallel side walls, and a pair of generally parallel end walls. The angled sections (12, 13, 14) each comprise two orthogonal wall portions. Each wall portion has a free end which abuts a corner of a respective cell. Each angled section also has a corner portion which abuts with a corner of another cell. The cells (11) and the angled sections (12, 13, 14) can be arranged in modules placed in a repeating pattern, with each module having at least one planting zone (22).Type: ApplicationFiled: July 26, 2006Publication date: August 21, 2008Applicant: ROCKHAMPTON CITY COUNCILInventor: James Paul Martin

Patent number: 7047605Abstract: A vehicle (10) is used to lift the buried lid of a crypt and any soil or turf overlying the lid. The vehicle (10) has a mobile frame (14) which can be positioned over the lid. An attachment frame (11) is suspended from a subframe (12) within the mobile frame (14), the subframe (12) being adjustable laterally relative to the frame (14). The attachment frame (11) has winch cables (19) adapted to be connected to respective attachment fittings on the lid. Hydraulic cylinders (13) are used to raise the attachment frame (11) relative to the mobile frame (14), and thereby lift the lid and any overlying soil/turf. The raised lid can be transported while suspended from the vehicle (10), and subsequently returned for replacement on its crypt in a reverse procedure.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2001Date of Patent: May 23, 2006Assignee: Rockhampton City CouncilInventor: Gavin William Kele

Patent number: 6370745Abstract: A burial crypt arrangement comprises precast concrete cells (1) arranged in rows, with the cells (1) in each row being spaced apart and staggered relative to the cells (1) in adjacent rows. The corners (3) of cells (1) in a row are juxtaposed with the diagonally opposite corners of cells in adjacent rows. In this manner, both the spaces within cells, and the spaces between cells, can be used as burial chambers. Each cell (1) is formed by a continuous wall (2) of rectangular shape. Cells may be stacked vertically. The thickness of the wall (2) is tapered, being thicker at the top than the bottom, so that a ledge (9) is formed at the junction of stacked cells. An intermediate lid (10) can be supported in each burial chamber by the ledges (9). Each burial chamber is closed by a top lid (12). A trailer (17) can be used to raise and transport the lids (12).Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 1998Date of Patent: April 16, 2002Assignee: Rockhampton City CouncilInventors: Gavin William Kele, Michael Drew Wickerson, Thomas Allen Wyatt, Laurence Edwin Georgeson
