  • Patent number: 5266253
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing molded polymer articles comprised of casting resins and having color-differentiated surface regions, wherein prior to the charging of the casting resin, a surface region of the molding implement is coated with a hardenable coating of a colorant-containing composition, producing color-differentiation in the surface of the molded articles. The designated surface regions of the molding implement are coated with at least two layers, whereby, according to the present method, the first coating step applies a filler-containing coating dispersion (L-1) without added colorant, and the second coating step applies a colorant-containing coating (L-2) without filler. Thereafter, the coating layers are dried, the casting resin is charged to the molding implement, the resin is polymerized by heating, and the molded articles removed from the mold.

  • Patent number: 4663094
Abstract: Cupola-shaped plastic pieces with a flat, unwarped rim can be produced from an equally large blank without trimming of the rim, by heating an optionally preheated plastic sheet by radiant heat. The radiant heat acts only on the area surrounded by the rim area until the area exposed to the radiant heat has reached a temperature just below the softening temperature of the plastic. Up to this point, the rim is left without tension, or at most a low clamping pressure is applied which allows a thermal movement of the rim. Then, but before the beginning of the forming, the clamping pressure is increased so that the rim is held tight. The radiation activity continues until the area exposed to the radiant heat has exceeded the softening temperature, the radiation activity is then stopped, and the area heated to the forming temperature is formed.

  • Patent number: 4626398
Abstract: Extruded web multiple panels are produced with undulated webs by extrusion of a thermoplastic material by a device including an extruder, a slotted die connected thereto which comprises core pieces in the die slot for forming the webs, a movable mold channel placed downstream of the slotted die, and a removal device. The undulation of the webs is produced by friction forces rhythmically alternating in direction crosswise to the extrusion direction. The friction forces are allowed to act in the mold channel on the extrudate in an area where it is still above its softening temperature. The friction forces are produced either by a rhythmic crosswise movement of the entire mold channel or by movable sections of the mold channel walls of a special mold channel.
