Abstract: A gate valve is comprised of a gate movable between open and closed positions within a valve body, and gate having defined through it the gate an equalizer port or passageway between opposite sides of the gate with fixed side walls. The equalizer passageway being is opened and closed by an internal gate. The internal gate is in a close fitting engagement with each of a pair of opposing valve seats mounted with the gate and is shiftable by a carrier that does not constrain movement of the internal gate as it sits between the valve seats.

Abstract: Highway barriers are disclosed for either single or combined use, including a hollow container made of a semi-rigid plastic. The side walls of the container include vertical indentations in order to maintain the structural integrity of the container and to create inner baffles for dampening movement of a fluid within the container upon filing thereof. Preferably, the end walls of the container include interlocking male and female portions so that the barriers can be attached end-to-end at various angles.

Abstract: A highway traffic barrier of the New Jersey style is made from semi-rigid plastic material so that it has some elasticity and will act as a shock absorber, while weighing considerably less than the present day New Jersey style barrier made from concrete. The barrier is hollow and contains interior baffles to provide compartments within the barrier. When in use the barrier is filled with a liquid through filling openings at the top of the barrier and has a weight about equal to the present New Jersey style barriers made of concrete. When the barriers are not filled with a liquid, they weigh considerably less than present New Jersey style barriers made of concrete. When not in use, the liquid is discharged through discharge openings near the bottom of the barriers. Each barrier has a groove at each end which is adapted to receive a key so that the barriers may be joined together to form a highway barrier of the required length.
