Abstract: A method is provided whereby articles of manufacture, such as tools suitable for use in lens grinding and finishing operations, can be cast with an aluminum filled epoxy composition. The resultant articles are relatively inexpensive and light in weight, and they exhibit the levels of dimensional stability, durability, hardness, and machineability necessary to render them highly suited for their intended purposes.

Abstract: A synthetic plastic sheet material having a multicolor striated pattern therein is disclosed. The synthetic plastic sheet material has a multiplicity of bands of differentially colored resin disposed within a matrix resin and the bands have striations extending longitudinally of the sheet material. Some of the bands extend angularly to others of the bands so as to provide a grid pattern. The bands of one angular orientation are disposed at a depth within the matrix material which is different from that of the bands of the other angular orientation. A multiplicity of bands of each orientation are provided across the width of the sheet material and the bands have relatively narrow striations extending longitudinally of the sheet material.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for producing synthetic plastic sheet material having a multicolor striated pattern therein. The composite stream containing at least one band of differentially colored material in a matrix resin is passed through a perforated member having apertures therein separated by narrow solid segments which results in some interference with the lineal flow of the composite stream and effects striations of the differentially colored material within the matrix. A screen member supported in a perforated insert is specifically disclosed, and generally the bands of color extend diagonally across the sheet material.
