Patent number: 6857298Abstract: Locking systems for containers with closures. The locking systems have latches with a single actuator rod connected thereto. Locks are also provided. Opening the locks move the actuator rod. The latches can preferably be rotary latches, and the locks can be paddle handles connected to the latches or push button locks that move the actuator rod.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2002Date of Patent: February 22, 2005Assignee: S.P.E.P. Patent number: 6854304Abstract: A paddle lock. The paddle lock has a housing with a well, a lock with locked and unlocked positions that is attached to the housing and a cam connected to the lock with the cam having a locking portion and an unlocking portion. A cam spring biases the cam to the locking position and the lock to the locked position. A handle is movably connected to the housing between which biases the handle to the opened position flipped out of the well. An actuator is moved by the handle and has a lock position contact portion and an open position contact portion. The handle will move to the opened position where it is out of the well when the lock is open and by pushing the handle down, will cause the lock to turn to its locked position.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 2002Date of Patent: February 15, 2005Assignee: S.P.E.P. Acquisition CorporationInventor: Rodolfo Linares

Patent number: 6782725Abstract: A push button lock. The push button lock has a main housing with an aperture formed therethrough, a plunger which is axially moveable in the aperture of the main housing, and a ball retainer positioned in the aperture of the main housing. The ball retainer has a central aperture formed therein through which the plunger extends and a protrusion. Balls are placed on the ball retainer. An actuator is located in the main housing aperture above the ball retainer and is rotatable to an open position, wherein the actuator is in position to be pushed down to prevent the balls from moving away from the plunger shaft and thereby prevent the plunger shaft from moving relative to the ball retainer, and a locked position, wherein the balls are not retained against the plunger shaft and the plunger shaft can move relative to the balls retainer. A lock button having a lock housing and a lock cylinder is provided, with the lock cylinder being adapted to turn the actuator from the opened position to the locked position.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 2002Date of Patent: August 31, 2004Assignee: S.P.E.P. Patent number: 6546765Abstract: A bellcore-style latch with a safety lock feature, having a handle with a shank. The shank has an axial bore, with side apertures extending through the shank into the bore. A lock plug is positioned in the bore of the handle, and has a head and a shaft. The shaft has recessed portions and unrecessed portions, and the lock plug is rotatable to move the lock plug between a locked position, wherein the unrecessed portions are in alignment with the side apertures to cause the ball bearings located therein to protrude from the side apertures, and an unlocked position, wherein the unrecessed portions are in alignment with the side apertures permitting the ball bearings to retract into the side apertures. A spring is used to bias the lock plug to its locked position. An escutcheon with an aperture is provided for receiving the shank portion. The aperture has pockets for the ball bearings.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2001Date of Patent: April 15, 2003Assignee: S.P.E.P. Acquisition CorporationInventor: Rodolfo A. Linares

Patent number: 6530250Abstract: The locking folding T-handle door has a handle, a locking cam with a cutout portion, a latch cam, and a handle shaft rotatably fixing the handle, the locking cam and the latch cam together. A lock, a pan with an aperture formed therethrough for the handle shaft and an aperture for the lock are provided. A slide bar activation cam is fitted to the lock and is adapted to be turned by the lock. A slide bar located between the locking cam and the slide bar activation cam is provided. The slide bar is slidably retained by a slide retainer fixed to an underside of the pan. The slide bar is adapted to be moved into the cutout portion of the locking cam by locking the lock, which thereby prevents the handle from being turned to move the latch cam.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2001Date of Patent: March 11, 2003Assignee: S.P.E.P. Patent number: 6302453Abstract: A bi-directional handle and latch assembly mountable to a door or other closure. The latch assembly may be operated by either of a first handle or a second handle. The first handle may operate a latch bolt in the latch assembly by rotating the handle in either the clockwise or the counter-clockwise direction, and operate the latch bolt irrespective of whether or not the second handle is locked. The invention employs a simple construction for ease of manufacture, repair, and replacement of the first handle with other handles with different aesthetic or functional outer designs or configurations.Type: GrantFiled: November 10, 2000Date of Patent: October 16, 2001Assignee: S.P.E.P.
