Abstract: A rail vehicle bogie brake has a brake beam (4, 5). Which at its end is provided with a brake block holder (8) having a brake block (9) for brake application against a tread of a wheel. The brake block holder has a transverse cylinder (19) for its pivotable connection with the brake beam. A mounting shaft (14) is attached in the end of the brake beam and is provided with a sleeve (16). The sleeve engages the mounting shaft and has an outer diameter corresponding to the inner diameter of the cylinder. A sleeve plate (17) is held against the sleeve, which is slightly longer than the cylinder, by means of screws (18) attached in the mounting shaft and prestressing the sleeve.

Abstract: A brake actuator for delivering a brake force through a brake block or br pad to a wheel or disc to be braked comprises in a housing (1) a service brake arrangement (3, 5). The actuator also comprises a safety brake arrangement (4, 9) including at least one powerful spring (9), acting in the brake application direction, means for tensioning the spring by the reaction force at a service brake application, and mechanical means (11, 12, 13) for locking the spring to the housing in a tension state. These locking means can be released at will for accomplishing a safety brake application.

Abstract: A block brake actuator including in a housing a service brake arrangement, having an electric motor and mechanism for transforming its rotary movement into an axial movement of a push rod, and a safety brake arrangement, including at least one powerful spring, which acts in a brake application direction, may be tensioned at a service brake application and may be locked to the housing in a tensioned state. The spring is arranged transverse of the push rod and acts thereon over a wedge and roller arrangement.

Abstract: In a sealing arrangement between a tubular housing (2) and a rod (1) in a rail vehicle slack adjuster, a cup (3) is movable with the rod and extends along the rod over the free end of the housing. A sealing arrangement (6-9) is in sealing engagement with the housing (2). It comprises flange-like portions (6', 7), extending into close proximity with the inner wall of the cup for forming a labyrinth seal, and a sealing lip (9') in sealing contact with the end of the cup for preventing the intrusion of water and the like in the cup.

Abstract: A tread brake unit for applying a brake block (3) against the tread of a rail vehicle wheel comprises a pneumatic cylinder (1) having a piston (9) with a piston rod (11). A block holder (2) for the brake block is pivotably connected to the piston rod by a pivot sleeve (19) rotatably attached in the end of the piston rod facing the block holder, which is provided with a circular surface (25) for engagement with the pivot sleeve, a structure (20, 22, 23) being provided for keeping the block holder connected to the pivot sleeve.

Abstract: An end piece or barrel head (1) for a rail vehicle axial slack adjuster is at its outer periphery connected to a barrel (2) of the adjuster and is arranged around a rotatably and axially movable tube (3). The end piece is provided with an internal, circumferential groove (4), connected to the exterior by way of a number of channels (5) opening in the end wall (1') of the end piece for allowing water collected in the groove to freely pass out to the exterior. The end piece is extended further into the barrel by way of a sleeve (1"), which is connected to the groove by way of notches (6) and contains a sealing ring (7) engaging the tube and sealingly cooperating with the sleeve.

Abstract: Brake force is transmitted between a single axially movable push rod (6) and a brake block holder (3) by an intermediate force transmission member (22) to accommodate for movements along the wheel axis. This intermediate member (22) has cylindrical surfaces cooperating with both the block holder and the push rod end. The cylindrical surface (22') of the member (22), which cooperates with the brake block holder portion (21), is arcuate with its circle center coinciding with the center for the cylindrical push rod end (6'). A shackle (24) held on the brake block holder is biassed by springs (28) forward toward a brake application direction to retain and frictionally engage protrusions (23) extending from the actuator push rod (6).

Abstract: A force actuator arrangement comprises a force generating member performing an oscillating movement, preferably a rod (7) of magnetostrictive material, force transmitting means-in a disc brake arrangement a caliper (4,5)-, and a device (8,9) for transforming the oscillating movement to a unidirectional application movement of the force transmitting means. The oscillation frequency of the force generating member is higher than the natural frequency of the force transmitting means for enabling the movement transforming device to transmit the movement only during each oscillation stroke in the application direction.
