Patent number: 4476914Abstract: So-called spraying beams, being supports for spraying tubes or nozzles, are arranged in a continuous casting plant for cooling the strand along the surface thereof relative to the strand surface so that the width of the fan-shaped cooling water jets can be adapted to changing strand widths and thicknesses. The adjusting device for the spraying beams comprises two or more pivotable radius levers to which the spraying beams are connected, at least in zones, and which said levers can be locked in different pivoting positions so that the spraying beams or zones of spraying beams can be adjusted parallel with themselves and can be locked at different distances. The radius levers can also be pivotable along inclined planes so that the change of distance of the spraying beam is accompanied by a transverse displacement relative to the longitudinal axis of the strand.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 1982Date of Patent: October 16, 1984Assignee: SACK GmbHInventor: Willi Wrossok

Patent number: 4354411Abstract: The shears have a lower blade and an upper blade. The upper blade is reciprocated with respect to the lower blade through a transmission. The transmission includes a first eccentric which is continuously rotated to continuously reciprocate the upper blade over a vertical stroke equal to the throw of the first eccentric. This throw is transmitted to the upper blade through a second eccentric surrounding the first. The second eccentric is quickly rotatable, between two positions. In the first position, the upper blade is always clear of a billet on the lower blade. In the second position, the upper blade cuts the billet during the reciprocation. To ensure that the upper blade only penetrates approximately half the thickness of the billet, the position of the lower blade is vertically adjustable.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 1980Date of Patent: October 19, 1982Assignee: Sack GmbHInventors: Karl Griese, Emil F.
