Abstract: A composition useful as an electrolyte in a lithium-ion battery comprises at least one C3-C6 carbonate or a lactone, at least one unsaturated cyclic carbonate in a v/v proportion less than 5% of the volume of the other constituents of the composition, lithium hexafluorophosphate (LiPF6) and at least 0.2 mol/l lithium bis(oxalatoborate). A battery using this electrolyte is suitable for operation at temperatures down to about ?50° C.

Abstract: An electronic system for a battery comprises a charging circuit (20) for the battery connected to a connector powering the charging circuit (15), a control and monitoring circuit (30) for the operation of the battery, and a discharge circuit connected to power connectors (2) of the battery. The control and monitoring circuit (30) interrupts battery charging when there is a call for current via the power connectors (2) of the battery. The electronic system has application to rechargeable batteries used to provide back up power.
Abstract: A terminal for a sealed accumulator comprises a single-piece body made of aluminium with at least one tinned zone for soldering to an electronic card and at least one non-tinned zone for connection to a current output terminal of the accumulator. The electrical terminal has a limited space requirement; welds well onto an accumulator container made of aluminium and allows easy assembly with an electronic card by soldering without risk of migration of tin which could cause a short circuit.
Abstract: A welding method in the manufacture of an accumulator comprising a cover with a ball welded onto the periphery of an opening formed through the cover, comprises welding the ball onto the cover of the accumulator by placing the ball (1) in contact with the periphery of an opening (2) formed through a metal part (3, 11) preferably of aluminum, and then welding the ball, preferably of aluminum or steel, onto the periphery of the opening using a laser emitting a beam with an annular cross-section (4).
Abstract: The invention proposes a compound for use as active material of a positive electrode of a lithium-ion cell. This compound has an average discharge voltage above 4.5V in relation to the Li+/Li couple of approximately 4.7V. This compound comprises: a) a spinel-type crystalline phase of formula LiaNiII0.5?xMnIII2xMnIV1.5?x?yMyO4 in which M is chosen from the group comprising the elements Ti and Al, or a mixture of these; 0.8<a<1.3; 0<x?0.15; 0<y?0.15; b) a cubic crystalline phase of formula Li1?zNi1+zO2 in which 0?z?1; and c) a rhomboedric crystalline phase of formula Li1?zNi1+zO2 in which 0?z?1. The invention also provides an electrode, a cell with this compound and a production process.
Abstract: The invention proposes a composition comprising: a) a hydrogen-fixing alloy of formula R1-tMgtNis-zMz in which: R represents one or more elements chosen from the group comprising La, Ce, Nd and Pr; M represents one or more elements chosen from the group comprising Mn, Fe, Al, Co, Cu, Zr and Sn; 0.1?t?0.4; 3.0?s?4.3; z?0.5; b) a manganese compound in a proportion such that the mass of manganese represents from 1 to 5.5% of the mass of the alloy, c) an yttrium compound in a proportion such that the mass of yttrium represents from 0.1% to 2% of the mass of the alloy. The invention also relates to an anode comprising the composition according to the invention. The invention also relates to an alkaline electrolyte battery comprising said at least one anode.

Abstract: A storage battery (1) comprises a container (2) containing an electrochemical stack (9) comprising alternating positive and negative electrodes flanking electrolyte-impregnated separators. A current output terminal (7) passes through a lid (5) of the container. A connector (10), which electrically connects the electrodes of one polarity to the terminal (7) passing through the lid comprises a flat connection (15) welded to the electrodes and an elastic connection (20) which nests into the terminal (7) passing through the lid. Manufacture of a sealed storage battery is simplified by obviating a manual operation of inserting and bending an elongated connection tab inside the container.
