Abstract: A method for placing headers in connection with the packing of paper, cardboard, pulp or equivalent web material reels, in which method, one multiaxis industrial robot (1) or equivalent apparatus picks inner headers (2) and outer headers (9) to be placed in the paper reel from storage racks or places (3, 3?, 10, 10?). The invention is implemented such that the inner headers (2) and/or the outer headers (9) are transferred to placing manipulators (4) which move in the longitudinal axial direction of the paper reel and take the inner headers (2) at the heads of the paper reel (5) and/or equivalently the outer headers (9) onto head press planes (11) with a motion in the longitudinal axial direction of the paper reel (6) and in its cross direction (7) or a combination of these motions.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for packaging rolls, particularly paper web rolls; the method includes the steps of taking a roll into a supported position on a roll rotation station and wrapping onto the roll a paper wrapper or the like material dispensed by means of at least one wrapper dispensing station and dispensing means, whereby the wrapper is wound so as to form either a centered wrapping or an overlapping wrapping. The invention is implemented by way of aligning the roll for the wrapping operation by means of transferring the roll rotation station laterally in the axial direction of the roll in regard to the wrapper dispensing system. The invention also relates to an apparatus and a novel roll package utilizing the method.

Abstract: An apparatus for picking roll headers (2) separately one-by-one from a stack (1). The apparatus includes a picking device (3), which is adapted for picking always the uppermost header (2) from the stack (1). The invention is implemented by providing the apparatus with at least one clamp member (6) arranged to extend at least partially above the header stack (1) simultaneously being supported against the upper rim edge of the header stack (1), whereby the clamp member(s) (6) is/are able to keep the next header below stationary during the picking of the uppermost header.

Abstract: A silo-like container includes an apparatus for discharging material within the container. The container interior bottom member leaves an annular opening with respect to the container walls, through which opening material may fall to be collected. A preferably toothed discharge ring is disposed above the interior bottom member and is rotated by a drive wheel. A retaining element preferably having teeth-like members is mounted adjacent the interior wall of the silo. As the discharge ring is rotated, planetary motion preferably about a silo axis occurs. The retaining element teeth-like members cooperate with the toothed portion of the discharge ring to urge rotational movement of the discharge ring about its own virtual axis. Discharge ring motion urges material within the silo radially outward toward the annular opening. The retaining element is mounted above the discharge ring such that the discharge ring is prevented from rising upward.

Abstract: A continuous wrapper web is wrapped about a roll that rotates about a rotational axis. The wrapper web is tensioned as it moves toward the roll by means of a brake mechanism disposed intermediate the roll and the source of the wrapper web so as to control tension and feed speed of the wrapper web. An end of the wrapper web is caused to contact the roll such that the wrapper web wraps about the roll in tension as the roll rotates. A portion of the wrapper web is caused to slacken and form a wave in a region intermediate the brake mechanism and the source of the wrapper web such that, in a direction parallel to the rotating roll's rotational axis, the wrapper web assumes tensional equilibrium when approaching and contacting the roll. This procedure reduces wrinkling of the wrapper web as it wraps about the roll due to misalignment between the end of the wrapper web and the rotational axis of the rotating roll.
