  • Patent number: 9778991
Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, method, and computer program product embodiments for exporting and importing database tables in a database management system using multi-version concurrency control (MVCC). An embodiment operates by first initiating an export of a database table in the database management system. During the export transaction, temporary creation and deletion timestamps are identified from MVCC information associated with each row in the database table. Each temporary timestamp is associated with a database transaction. A timestamp map is then generated that associates the identified temporary timestamps with commit timestamps of the associated transactions. The database table, associated MVCC information, timestamp map, and snapshot timestamp of the export transaction are written to a binary file.

  • Patent number: 9411866
Abstract: Data replication in a database includes identifying a source database system. The source database includes a main index file and a delta log file. To create a replica, one or more symbolic links to the source database system are generated. The symbolic links identify a path to a physical location of the source database. A replica of the source database is generated based on the symbolic links. The replica includes a copy of the main index file and delta log file. Information associated with the replica and the symbolic links is stored in a recovery log. Replica are provided transparently to most database engine components by re-using partitioning infrastructure. Components “see” replica as tables with a single partition; that partition is a local replica.

  • Publication number: 20130042092
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided to perform efficient merging operations of two or more streams of data by using SIMD instruction. Streams of data are merged together in parallel and with mitigated or removed conditional branching. The merge operations of the streams of data include Merge AND and Merge OR operations.

  • Publication number: 20120330916
Abstract: A method and system for performing at least one transaction on at least one column of a table in a database system is disclosed. The method includes determining whether a first transaction of the at least one transaction fulfills all of at least one criteria. The method further includes ensuring that the at least one column is in a shared numeric lock if the first transaction fulfills all of the at least one criteria, wherein the shared numeric lock is a lock that allows at least a second transaction fulfilling all of the at least one criteria to access the same column concurrently with the first transaction without releasing the shared numeric lock between transactions, and wherein the shared numeric lock is released only after all of the transactions fulfilling all of the criteria have completed processing. The method further includes processing the first transaction.
