Abstract: A sealant applicator nozzle, of the present technology, has a fan-shaped profile, with a broad concave arc that defines a distal end of the nozzle and provides the nozzle with a tooling edge. The concave tooling edge, along with the outlet orifice, and two surface-contact edges are positioned to equidistantly straddle a lap joint to be sealed when in operation. In methods of using the nozzle, a wide ribbon of sealant is applied in a smoothly arched geometry, forming a segment of a circle, over a lap joint so that the thickest part of the arch is centered directly on the edge of the overlapping material that forms the lap joint.

The method comprises pressurizing an internal space of a collapsible package to expand the package. Drawing a vacuum external to the collapsible package and removing the positive internal pressure. The vacuum maintains the package in an expanded state. A nozzle is then inserted into the collapsible package to reverse fill the package with a vicious material.

Abstract: A method of applying a coating, such as a substantially waterproof coating, to a wood surface using a collapsing foam coating material. The material is initially sprayed onto a recessed wood surface, whereupon the resin material foams and collapses over a relatively short period of time into a film coating or layer that penetrates and seals the wood surface. A delivery system for applying the coating is also disclosed.

The at least one collapsible package is disposed at least partially within the substantially rigid cartridge body such that the package plunger end is disposed towards the cartridge plunger end and the package opening is disposed towards the nozzle end opening and the nozzle end opening is sufficiently hermetically sealed to allow drawing a vacuum.

Abstract: A container for materials having volatile components is constructed to have a substantial transparency. The container includes a tubular housing having first and second closing structures at opposite ends. The housing is formed as a laminate having a relatively thin inner lining of high barrier amorphous nylon for contacting the material having a volatile component and an outer sleeve of low barrier plastic, such as polyethylene teraphthalate. The container is specifically adapted for viscous caulking compounds wherein the first closing structure is an end wall, nozzle and snout assembly and wherein the second closing structure is defined by a movable piston slideably received in the housing interior.

Abstract: A product for the building industry includes a container having opposed transparent sidewall portions and a transparent caulking compound contained therein so that the appearance of a substrate surface with the caulking compound may be previewed before actual application of the caulk. A dispensing nozzle is provided at a downstream end and has a resealable cap. The container has a flexible sidewall that is flattened at an upstream end to form a region of reduced thickness so that a mass of caulking compound therein has a flattened configuration with this mass confined between the facing transparent sidewall portions. Preferably the entire sidewall is transparent and has index markings correlated to available bead length of the caulk remaining in the container. The flexible sidewall permits manual dispensing and allows a crease to be made thereby forming a preview packet.
