Patent number: 7195385Abstract: A vehicle light has at least one vehicle light housing having an open end and configured to be arranged on an inner side of a vehicle part of the vehicle. At least one illumination element is arranged in the vehicle light housing. The vehicle part has a light-transmissive area covering the open end of the vehicle light housing, wherein the light-transmissive area allows rays emitted by the illumination element to pass through to the exterior. The vehicle part can be the trunk lid or the exterior rearview mirror of the vehicle. The light-transmissive area is covered with a coating having a thickness such that, when the illumination element is switched off, the light transmissive area is invisible from the exterior of the vehicle and such that light emitted by the illumination element passes through the coating when the at least one illumination element is switched on.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 2003Date of Patent: March 27, 2007Assignee: Schefenacker Vision Systems Germany GmbH & Co. Publication number: 20050219857Abstract: The light of luminous units known in prior art is laterally radiated, wherefore LEDs (10 to 13) have to be arranged in an inclined manner on separate sheet metal supports, conductor films, or printed circuit boards. Using such supports and fastening the LEDs (10 to 13) is technically complex and costly. In order to be able to arrange the laterally radiating luminous means (10 to 13) in a simple, low-cost manner without using any additional supports, said luminous means (10 to 13) is provided with a fully reflecting surface (14), on which the beams (S) are reflected towards a reflector (3) that reflects the beams (S) in the direction of a light disk (2). The fully reflecting surface (14) can be arranged according to specific requirements in such a way that the light falls in the desired direction. No additional supports are required. The inventive luminous unit is preferably used in sideview mirrors of motor vehicles but can also be used in all areas of signal technology and illumination engineering.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 14, 2003Publication date: October 6, 2005Applicant: Schefenacker Vision Systems Germany GmbH & Co. Publication number: 20050207041Abstract: In order to configure an exterior rear view mirror (1) in such a way that area next to the vehicle is perfectly illuminated by the surround light (6) in a simple, constructive manner even when the mirror head (2) is folded, said light is fixedly arranged in relation to the mirror head (2). Said mirror head (2) also has a passage hole (18) for the beams coming out of the surround light (6) due to the fact that the position of the surround light (6) remains unchanged when it is in working position or in folded position. The exterior rear view mirror (1) ensures optimum illumination in the area below the mirror and next to the vehicle in every position of the mirror head (2).Type: ApplicationFiled: February 14, 2003Publication date: September 22, 2005Applicant: Schefenacker Vision Systems Germany GmbH & Co.
