  • Patent number: 7236779
Abstract: A method for analyzing service in a wireless communication network, which includes multiple antennas, which are assigned to transmit signals over the air to mobile units on respective sets of one or more frequency channels, such that at least two of the antennas transmit the signals on a common frequency channel. The method includes recording levels of the signals received at multiple locations within a service area of the network, while the antennas are transmitting the signals on the respective sets of frequency channels, including simultaneous transmission by the at least two of the antennas on the common frequency channel. The recorded levels and the frequency channels of the received signals are analyzed so as to classify the received signals at each of the locations according to the antennas transmitting the signals.

  • Publication number: 20040203727
Abstract: A method for configuring a wireless communication network includes receiving input data characterizing a plurality of sectors in the network. Based on the input data, a measure of quality of service in the network is computed as a function of a radio parameter that can be set by an operator of the network in order to determine an operating characteristic of a transmitter serving at least one of the sectors, other than a frequency allocation list of the at least one of the sectors. An optimal setting of the radio parameter is determined responsively to the measure of quality.

  • Publication number: 20030186705
Abstract: A method for channel allocation in a mobile communication network, based on an estimate of respective traffic density in each of a plurality of cells in the network, includes allocating to each of the plurality of the cells a first respective set of static channels for use in communicating with mobile units. The first respective set includes a respective number of the channels that is chosen based on the estimate of the traffic density so that a probability for all the static channels in the first respective set to be in use simultaneously for communicating with the mobile units is no less than a predetermined threshold probability. A second respective set of dynamic channels is allocated to each of the plurality of the cells, depending on the static channels allocated to the cells.

  • Publication number: 20030188029
Abstract: A method for analyzing service in a mobile communication network includes estimating probabilities of handover of a mobile unit from each of a plurality of cells in the network to each other cell in the plurality. Based on the probabilities of handover, a respective steady-state probability is found that the mobile unit is served by each of one or more of the cells.

  • Patent number: 6487414
Abstract: A system and method for frequency planning in a wireless communication network area using an impact matrix which relates signal interference impacts between sectors in a network service are for co-channel and adjacent channel interference. The impact matrix uses weighted propagation analysis and empirical measurement data to determine signal levels within each pixel of a network service area. The system merges the propagation analysis and empirical measurement data according to user assigned confidences.
