  • Patent number: 11148436
Abstract: A method for printing sheet-type substrates to prevent streaks during the ink-jet paint coating of substrates, includes moving a substrate in a feed direction past an application device by means of a conveying device, applying with the application device, during the movement of the substrate, a fluid application material drop by drop to the surface of the substrate in a pattern with a pre-defined contour, in particular leaving out regions, through a plurality of ink-jet nozzles arranged in a row transversely to the feed direction, in response to computer-controlled switching signals, and during the application of the pattern and during the movement of the substrate, moving the ink-jet nozzles back and forth transversely to the feed direction, preferably in the longitudinal direction of the arranged row of ink-jet nozzles, such that the paths travelled by the nozzles over the substrate by the overlap of the movement back and forth with the movement in the feed direction have direction components running perpen

  • Publication number: 20210221164
Abstract: The invention provides a method for enhancing printed products (3), wherein the method comprises partially coating a substrate (2) with a varnish (4) on one side (20) such that there are at least one coated area (22) and at least one uncoated area (21) on the side (20). Subsequently, a foil (6) is applied to the side (20) that is coated with the varnish (4) and is adhesively bonded to the substrate (2), wherein the foil (6) is designed so as to adhere to the material of the substrate, but not to the varnish (4), so that the adhesive bonding of the foil (6) occurs selectively in the at least one uncoated area (21).

  • Patent number: 10987962
Abstract: A method for producing polymer particles is disclosed in which a fluid preparation is ejected in drop form from a nozzle of an ink jet print head. At least one nozzle ejects droplets in response to electrical signals, and radiation from a radiation source is directed on the droplets in flight, whereby the fluid preparation is at least partially cured by irradiation, so that particles are obtained from the fluid drops before impact or collection. The fluid preparation contains a prepolymer, an oligomer, monomers, or reactive diluents as well as at least one photoinitiator. The fluid preparation has a polymerizable group that is radically polymerizable. Further, a printed product and a device for making the printed product are disclosed. The printed product has a rough polymeric coating that is composed of spherical or largely spherically shaped polymer particles.

  • Patent number: 10343967
Abstract: The present invention provides mixtures of compounds and compounds having the formula: which are useful as functionalized photoinitiators and which may be used directly or after further functionalization in various photo-curable coating compositions, including varnishes, lacquers, printing inks and the like. The present invention also relates to a process to prepare the mixtures and the compounds. The present invention also provides radiation-curable surface coating compositions which include at least one of the compounds of the present invention as a photoinitiator. The compounds are especially suitable for radiation curable formulations which are intended for applications where low extracables or leachables are used such as printing inks for food packaging.

  • Patent number: 7927669
Abstract: A method and apparatus for applying coatings, such as in particular varnishes, to surfaces is provided. The apparatus includes a metering head that has at least one nozzle which can be actuated by a control signal. The method includes the steps of: moving a base having a surface that is to be coated along this surface relative to a metering head and/or moving the metering head relative to a surface of the base, and applying a fluid coating material to the surface through a nozzle in response to at least one control signal generated by a computer.
