  • Publication number: 20030201853
Abstract: A circuit breaker comprises a pair of separable contacts arranged in an opening volume. A plurality of flat de-ionization fins are arranged inside an arc extinguishing chamber opening out onto the opening volume. The chamber is bounded by two opposite side walls, a rear wall located away from the opening volume, a bottom wall and a top wall. Each fin has a free attack edge exposed to the arc. The free edges of the fins laterally bound a longitudinal gulley extending in a heightwise direction from the bottom electrode to the top wall, and longitudinally from a first longitudinal end opening out onto the opening volume at a second longitudinal end tapering to form a stack near to the rear wall, passing via a narrow intermediate portion. A bottom longitudinal electrode partially covers the bottom wall and extends longitudinally facing the gulley at least from the second contact up to the stack.

  • Publication number: 20030179525
Abstract: A limiting circuit breaker comprises two separable contacts 68, 70 and a mechanism 12 with energy storage 36 operated by an opening catch 30. The mechanism 12 drives a movable cage 58 between a closed position and an open position to perform opening of the contacts. One of the contacts is movable with respect to the cage 58 in the closed position and can thus take a separated position. A Thomson effect electromechanical actuator 100 is provided to drive the movable contact 68 to the separated position. A latch 80 enables the movable contact to be held in the separated position. In the event of a fault requiring a very high-speed response, separation of the contacts is obtained by means of the Thomson effect actuator and is then confirmed by opening of the mechanism. In other cases, only the mechanism operates to perform opening.

  • Publication number: 20030161589
Abstract: The optic coupling device comprises optic emitting means arranged in a coating material to emit a first light signal to an optic duct, and optic receiving means separated from the emitting means to receive a second light signal from said optic device. To improve the efficiency and simplify manufacturing, the optic receiving means receive the second light signal through said coating material. An optic probe comprises said optic coupling device, an optic sensor, and an optic duct joining the coupling device and the sensor to transmit a first light signal to the sensor and to receive a second light signal to the coupling device. The communication device comprises two stations connected by an optic duct and comprising coupling devices.

  • Publication number: 20030137373
Abstract: A circuit breaker is equipped with a motorized control acting on an operating member oscillating between a loaded position and a closed position, passing via a closing dead point position. When the unit is open or reset by means of the motorized control, the operating member is moved to an indexed position close to the closing dead point position, so as to minimize the closing time. The circuit breaker also has an opening dead point position. To minimize the opening-closing cycle time, the motor drives the operating member from the closed position to an indexed turning position situated between the opening dead point position and the loaded position, before changing direction.

  • Publication number: 20030123202
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for motor protection and control containing power conductors provided with poles with separable contacts (Ct) and a protection device (Mp) containing means (Cc) for detecting currents flowing through the power conductors and means for generating an initiating signal in order to control an electromagnet (Ea) and a mechanical device (Sm) with trip mechanism (Dr) which is able to actuate moving contacts (Cs) and a connecting strip (T2) and which can be actuated by a manual control button (Cm), characterised by the fact that the mechanical device (Sm) has means for automatically resetting the trip mechanism (Dr) after it has tripped and for moving it to the off position.

  • Publication number: 20030070907
Abstract: Switch, more specifically a position switch, whose box is roughly prismatic. The box 10 has wings 15a,16a,13a at the back that define the external template of the box and the wings of a housing A in which a connector 30 fits. The connector is fitted so that it is detachable from the housing and has a built-in body between the wings 15a,16a,13a and has at least one surface 35,36 defining the external template of the box. A quarter-turn fixing device 40 is associated with the connector 30, and has latching tongues 43,44 that fit into the slots 15b,16b provided in the opposite fitting wings 15a,16a of box 10.
