    Abstract: A bag in box packaging comprising an outer box, an inner bag and a tray member. The outer box includes an opening at the lower end of the front wall and onto the bottom wall. A pair of opposing slits extend along the lower edge on opposing sides of the opening thereat. The spout and/or the tap extend through an opening in the base so that the tap and the inner bag are on opposite sides of the base. A pair of opposing channels are defined between the respective flange and the dispensing wall interfacing surface of the tray. The tray member can be slid into position by extending the front wall between the respective flange and the dispensing wall interfacing surface and into the respective opposing channels defined thereby, to, in turn, secure the tray to the outer box.

The drip limiting assembly limits the formation of drips after the plug member is returned to a closed orientation.

An opening is provided through the body and includes a recessed circumferential channel and a membrane engaging flange positioned proximate the recessed circumferential channel. The retaining ring is positioned with the sealing membrane engagement surface in overlying engagement with the sealing membrane. Extension of the tab into the recessed circumferential channel of the body releasably maintains the overlying engagement and biases the retaining ring against the membrane. The inner wall structure of the retaining ring extends radially inward beyond the membrane engaging flange of the sealing membrane, to in turn, protect the membrane.

A slack accumulation assembly accumulates at least a portion of the film that has been deformed by the surface deformation station. The apparatus may include a filler device and a transfer assembly for transferring formed containers to a filler device.

A plug member (22) is inserted into the spout member (18) from outside of the bag container (10) and is withdrawable in the opposite direction in order to open the bag container. The bag container is filled via the spout member after removal of the plug member outwardly of the bag container and into a filling head, and then the plug member is replaced from within the filling head into the spout member to close the bag container.

The texture can be provided by sheet surfaces that are mechanically or ultrasonically embossed or are bubble-cushioned or which have sealed pleats or accordion folds. The bottom surface of a lower flange of the fitment may have concentric ridges (or spirals) and/or radial grooves. Also disclosed are methods of making the bag from one, two, three or four sheets.
