  • Patent number: 4019666
Abstract: Button, cap, or the like is oriented as it is rolled along trough contacting a friction surface and then is placed directly into a setting die. Prior to the setting operation, the die is shifted in a rotary movement to a selected position to reorient the button depending on the heading which it should have on the garment.

  • Patent number: 4016918
Abstract: A clamp-in valve for a road vehicle which can be inserted and removed from the outside of the wheel instead of from the inside consists of a valve stem flanged at one end with a rubber grommet at that end, the grommet being flanged at its end remote from the valve stem flange, and retaining means for pressing on the flange of the grommet. The diameter of the flange of the valve stem is smaller than the diameter of the aperture of the wheel into which the valve is to be inserted. The retaining means can be washer and nut or a lock washer engaging in a groove or rib of the valve stem and held by, for example, a screw-on dust cap with an elongate skirt. The flanged end of the valve stem is inserted through the wheel aperture and the retaining means tightened so that the rubber grommet is compressed to seal and clamp the valve stem in the aperture. The valve may be used with tubeless tires or tubed tires having a modified rubber spud for attachment to the tube.

  • Patent number: 3987876
Abstract: A belt-like element is disposed in aligned channel-like recesses formed respectively along the margins of the luggage closure. Element-tightening means are provided. When the element is tightened, it moves exclusively into one of the recesses permitting the closure to be opened. When the element is relaxed, it is disposed in both recesses, preventing the opening.

  • Patent number: 3984041
Abstract: Plier-like grommet-setting tool has integral pyramidal punch and annular fabric cutter on one jaw and turntable on opposite jaw. Turntable presents two zones, one for cutting a hole in the fabric with the use of the cutter, and the other for setting the grommet eyelet with the use of the punch. Turntable may be readily shifted to present the proper zone under the punch. The tool is especially adapted for setting heavy-duty eyelets and grommets.

  • Patent number: 3982371
Abstract: A panel holding structure for a panel such as a glass window pane that includes a frame, a retaining step on the frame against which the panel is pressed, an elongated glazing stop engaging a side of the panel that is opposite the step with the glazing stop having a rigid stem positioned in a groove in the frame and extending therefrom adjacent to the surface of the panel that is opposite the step, pressure devices on the stem both within the groove and externally thereof and engaging both the panel and the groove surface for aid in retaining the stem in the groove and the panel against the step and a rigid flange on this stem extending away from the panel and overlying and engaging a portion of the frame that is adjacent the groove for resisting outward movement of the glazing stop by the pressure of the window thereagainst. The disclosure also includes the device including the elongated glazing stop that engages the panel and retains it upon a frame.

  • Patent number: 3978448
Abstract: In a vehicle tire pressure indicator system, a reed switch mounted on the vehicle frame adjacent a wheel is connected to indicator means in the vehicle. An elongage tubular housing of generally cylindrical outer configuration is disposed on the wheel lengthwise parallel to the axis of the wheel. One end of the housing, the outer end, is attached to the tire valve while the other end carries a covered bellows on the end of which is a magnet. The housing is situated to be adjacent the reed switch each time the wheel rotates. Tire pressure is communicated to the chamber surrounding the bellows inside the cover so that when tire pressure is high, the bellows shrinks and draws the magnet away from the reed switch, not influencing it. When tire pressure drops, the bellows extends, moving the magnet toward the switch, triggering the indicator means. The bellows is sealed by having its single bore plugged with a ball member. The bellows contains a stop limiting its collapsing movement.

  • Patent number: 3971578
Abstract: A union device comprises a hollow body of synthetic plastic material having a sleeve with a bore the diameter of which is slightly less than that of a flexible tube which can be press-fitted in, pulled out from and tightly held in the bore without constricting its inner passageway. A slidable external locking ring may consolidate holding of the tube.

  • Patent number: 3971577
Abstract: A union device comprises a body having an inner bore communicating with an enlarged annular opening in a face of the body. A separate annular piece is secured in the opening with a press-fit by means of an external barb on the piece which opposes removal of the piece. The piece has an oppositely directed internal annular barb which engages in the outer surface of the end of a press-fitted flexible tube to tightly secure the tube without constricting its inner passageway which communicates with said bore.
