  • Patent number: 9970550
Abstract: A metal face seal assembly includes a casing with a first portion that rotates with respect to a second portion. Inside the casing is a face seal assembly with a first seal member that has a first sealing face that rotates with respect to a second seal member that has a second sealing face. At least one loader is provided that is compressible against the casing and exerts a biasing force against one of the first seal member and the second seal member to bias together the first seal face of the first seal member and the second seal face of the second seal member. The first portion and the second portion can each terminate with an annular ring that are separated by a gap for an installation ring positioned in the gap that is removable after installation of the metal face seal assembly.

  • Patent number: 8080118
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved method of preparing a two-piece container seal. The method comprises contacting a first thermoplastic surface of a moving web of a first flexible sheet material with a second thermoplastic surface of a moving web of a second flexible sheet material, the webs of first and second flexible sheet material moving at substantially the same speed and in the same direction; ultrasonically forming at least one array of spaced, frangible ultrasonic welds between the first and second thermoplastic surfaces, thereby producing a flexible multilayer sheet material having an adhesive-free interface between the first and second thermoplastic surfaces thereof; and cutting a container seal from the multilayer sheet material.

  • Patent number: 7819266
Abstract: An container sealing material suitable for sealing a container comprises a liner sheet (liner), a sealant sheet, and an interlayer portion (interlayer) bound between the liner and the sealant sheet by individual layers of wax. The material has a closure-contacting surface and a heat-sealable surface. At least one of the surfaces of the liner and the interlayer that contacts a layer of wax is capable of absorbing liquid wax when the layer of wax is melted. At least one of the surfaces of the sealant sheet and interlayer which contacts a layer of wax is capable of absorbing liquid wax when the layer of wax is melted. The liner and the sealant sheet each release from the interlayer when sufficient heat is applied to the container sealing material to melt the layers of wax. The interlayer can include printed matter visible on one or both of its surfaces (e.g., a logo, proof-of-purchase indicator, and the like). The printed matter can include promotional indica for a product, a service, a game and the like.

  • Patent number: 6083616
Abstract: An adhesive coating or layer has a differential height barrier structure deposited on the surface of one or both sides. Consequently, a highly aggressive adhesive formulation can be temporarily neutralized so as not to resist sliding of an item being positioned on the surface, until pressure is deliberately applied. Conversely, the adhesive system can be carried by decorative sheet material for easy application of the sheet material to cover a wall or floor, whereby the sheet can be slid into exact position without "sticking", before permanent adhesion. The present invention may be implemented by forming an array of discrete surface barrier structures which cover 10-30% of the active surface area of the adhesive. The barrier is preferably formed by an array of minute units of hard material or other discrete structures distributed on the adhesive surface and projecting therefrom by about 0.00025-0.0005 inch.

  • Patent number: 5858510
Abstract: Stock material comprises a plastic substrate having a thickness in the range of about 0.001 to 0.010 inch and melt temperature above about 275.degree. F., and an adhesive layer carried by the substrate and having a thickness in the range of about 0.001 to 0.006 inch and a melt temperature below about 225.degree. F. The adhesive layer has an exposed, textured surface defining a multiplicity of elongated channels. The stock material is used for working a plastic pouch to laminate a photograph or other document. A top flap is joined to a bottom flap so as to lie congruently thereon and form a pocket for receiving a photograph on the bottom flap and beneath the top flap. The bottom and top flaps each have a substrate side external to the pocket and an adhesive side defining the pocket. The adhesive side of at least the top flap, has a textured surface defining a multiplicity of channels.
