Patent number: 5901699Abstract: A one-piece, seamless food service base is insert molded from a heat and impact resistant plastic. The base is shaped to receive a standard serving plate and includes an integrally molded core. The core is made from a metal or other material that is susceptible to heating through induction heating. In one form, the core is a solid metal disk with strategically disposed bores for molding the base. In another from, the core is a hollow metal disk having a standard wax phase change core. Insulation may also be added above and/or below the core to improve heat transfer and to keep the bottom of the unit cool. In another form, the core is made of graphite and may even be mixed with ceramic to form a composite which may be used for the entire base, alleviating the need for insert molding a separate core and base.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 1997Date of Patent: May 11, 1999Assignee: Seco Products CorporationInventor: Michael B. Patent number: 5660280Abstract: A food service tray for a thermalization cart is injection molded as a one-piece integral tray. The tray includes a plurality of integral compartments some of which are for the placement of food items that are going to be heated (a heatable or hot compartment), the other compartments of which are for the placement of food items that will remain cold (a cold compartment). The bottom wall of each of the heatable compartments is of less thickness than the bottom wall of each of the cold compartments. Additionally, the upper surfaces of the bottom walls of each of the heatable compartments are in a first common plane that is coplanar to a second common plane formed by the bottom surfaces of the bottom walls of each of the cold compartments. Therefore, the bottom surfaces of the bottom walls of the heatable compartments are naturally in a third common plane that is axially below the second common plane.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 1995Date of Patent: August 26, 1997Assignee: Seco Products CorporationInventors: Steven H. Patent number: 5611328Abstract: A one-piece, seamless food service base is insert molded from a heat and impact resistant plastic. The base is shaped to receive a standard serving plate and includes an integrally molded core. The core is made from a metal or other material that is characteristically susceptible to heating through induction heating. In one form, the core is a solid metal disk with strategically disposed bores for molding the base. In another form, the core is a hollow metal disk having a standard wax phase change core.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 1995Date of Patent: March 18, 1997Assignee: Seco Products CorporationInventor: Michael B. Patent number: 5442932Abstract: A cooler chest has an open top which may be covered or uncovered by removable doors. A plurality of downwardly directed jets around the upper periphery of the chest forces cold air into the bottom of the chest, thereby displacing warm air from the chest and into the ambient atmosphere. The cold air in the chest is drawn through an evaporator coil for further cooling and then returned to the jets at the upper periphery for a continued cooling of the chest.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 1994Date of Patent: August 22, 1995Assignee: Seco Products CorporationInventor: Robert L. Patent number: 5267742Abstract: The invention is a shock mount for a pivoted door on mobile food service equipment or a rolling cart. The shock mount is preferably a sliding block which is spring biased to a normal position. In case of a shock or jolt, the block slides to dissipate the energy resulting from the shock or jolt. A door is pivotally mounted on the sliding block. Detents hold the door in either a closed position or a supported open position. The pivot mount enables the door to move over the detent, while holding the door in either a closed or a supported open position.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 1992Date of Patent: December 7, 1993Assignee: Seco Products CorporationInventor: Robert W.
