  • Patent number: 6437763
Abstract: The invention relates to a message display panel comprising a plurality of light emitting elements arranged in matrix form on a display surface. Each emitter element is constituted by a first end face of an oblong body made of transparent material which comprises on its second end face at least one cylindrical housing in which a light emitting source is placed. The housing comprises a bottom 18 having a convex internal surface which concentrates the light flux received towards the first end face. The body is square in section and preferably comprises three housings each receiving an electroluminescent diode.

  • Patent number: 5749647
Abstract: The invention relates to a display panel presenting a matrix array constituted by a plurality of light emitting elements. A mask composed of a vertical wall presents a plurality of openings opposite the light emitting elements and a plurality of fins directed towards the display surface and at a distance therefrom. The mask intercepts virtually all the sun's radiation and avoids heating of the display surface due to such radiation.

  • Patent number: 5555339
Abstract: The invention relates to a display matrix having light-conveying fibers that are maskable by disks each having a plurality of sectors and rotated by non-reversible motors each having two stable positions and under the control of a display control device. Each disk is provided with a detector device for detecting at least one angular position of said disk and connected to a device for monitoring matching, which device is itself connected to the display control device and acts on an activation device for the motor of said disk. The detection device advantageously includes a photoelectric sensor and a reflecting element disposed on a light-blocking sector of the disk.

  • Patent number: 5394167
Abstract: The display device comprises: a main control circuit for generating a light intensity reference; n secondary control circuits, each associated with a respective one of the n display subassemblies, each secondary control circuit including circuit for receiving the reference and circuit for monitoring the light source(s) of the associated subassembly so that each emitted light intensity corresponds to the reference light intensity; the monitor circuit presented by each secondary control circuit comprising circuit for directly detecting each light intensity emitted by the associated light source(s), circuit for comparing each light intensity with the reference, and circuit for controlling the power supply to the associated light source(s) as a function of the result of the comparison; and the circuit for direct detection of each light intensity comprise one or more fibers of the bundle of optical fibers and connected to a photoelectrical converter device.

  • Patent number: 4794391
Abstract: A display matrix incorporates optical fibers to transmit light from light sources to the front of the display. An occulting device is associated with an assembly of fibers to modify the character of the light emitted to the front of the matrix, and a device controlling the actuation of the occulting of device makes it possible selectively to control the occulting of determined groups of fibers to transform the display as desired. The occulting device comprises a disc incorporating different light-modifying sectors capable of being interposed in the path of the light, as a function of a rotation controlled by the electromechanical actuation device which includes a rotor coupled to the disc and rotatable within a stator made of a material having good magnetic remanence and high permeability to provide the device with a very short response time and low input energy requirement.
