Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided to use a value tag in conjunction with transmission and/or processing of system information in a wireless communication network, specifically in conjunction with second type system information or non-essential type system information. An access node may initiate broadcasting second type system information when the second type information content is updated, in order to avoid multiple on-demand delivery requests from wireless terminals. The access node may compress second type system information to be delivered by broadcast.
