    Abstract: In a process for separating relatively magnetic mineral particles P.sub.m having magnetic susceptibilities .chi..sub.m, with .chi..sub.m >0 from relatively non-magnetic particles P.sub.n, having magnetic susceptibilities .chi..sub.n, with .chi..sub.m >.chi..sub.n, all the particles are suspended in a liquid stream, which is supplied to a separating container. The container is provided with an inlet and an outlet and forms a passageway for the stream therebetween. Furthermore an arrangement of magnetizable matrix elements provided in the passageway is magnetized. The supplying and magnetizing are conditioned in such a way, that depositions of particles are obtained predominantly upon the downstream side of the elements. From all the particles magnetic particles P.sub.m are captured to an effective amount upon the downstream side, thereby resulting in a high grade deposition.

    Abstract: A pesticidal organotin formulation is a water dispersible solid concentrate comprising at least one pesticidal organotin compound and polyvinylpyrrolidone. The formulation is prepared by dissolving the organotin compound and the polyvinylpyrrolidione in a solvent, followed by removal of the solvent, preferably by evaporation at a pressure below atmospheric pressure to yield the solid concentrate. The formulation may be dispersed in water, either with or without agitation, to yield an aqueous dispersion which may be applied to a locus to combat pests, especially acarids.

The adduct is heated to dissociate the adduct thermally into a mixture containing tri-alkyl compound of the Group 3a metal, and the mixture is subjected to distillation to recover the tri-alkyl compound of the Group 3a metal.

    Abstract: A process for treating optionally oxidized sulphidic material containing one or more heavy metals, by aerobic microbial oxidation of the optionally oxidized sulphidic material in an aqueous suspension using a sulphur oxidizing micro-organism to convert optionally oxidized sulphide into soluble sulphate at a pH sufficient to maintain most of the heavy metals present in a soluble form. A preferred sulphidic material is sulphidic waste, preferably sulphidic slag. The formed sulphate is environmentally less harmful than the sulphide, while the heavy metals compounds are suitable for recovery of the metals using known methods.
