Abstract: Disclosed are a device and a method for degrading a gaseous organic pollutant through electrochemical process. The device includes an electrochemical reactor, where the electrochemical reactor includes a power supply, an anode, a cathode, a proton exchange membrane; and the proton exchange membrane is provided between the anode and the cathode, and the anode, the proton exchange membrane and the cathode are clamped, and the proton exchange membrane is a gas-permeable proton exchange membrane. The method is applied to the device, and includes: applying a direct current voltage between the cathode and the anode; and inputting a gas containing the gaseous organic pollutant from the anode. The gas containing the gaseous organic pollutant is degraded at the anode, and the degraded gas passes through the proton exchange membrane and the cathode in turn, and is discharged.
