  • Patent number: 5946898
Abstract: A wire rope including a core rope having a number of strands each made of a number of wires, and a number of outer strands closed on the core rope. Each strand of the core rope has a contact section where two or more wires of the strand of the core rope come into contact with the closed outer strand. A total of contact section rates Tz is 20 percent or more of a circumference of a circumscribed circle of the core rope: Tz (%)=Ti/C.times.100, wherein Tl denotes a length of a circumferential component of the contact section, "C" denotes a length of the circumference of the circumscribed circle of the core rope. A non-contact section rate Gz is below 20 percent of the circumference of the circumscribed circle of the core rope: Gz (%)={100-(n.times.Tz)}/n, wherein "n" denotes the number of strands.

  • Patent number: 5455121
Abstract: A steel material for colored springs is formed with a metallic deposit on the surface. The metallic deposit contains copper, zinc, and chromium. In an annealing process, copper and zinc diffuse in the deposit to exhibit a gold color tone while chromium is oxidized to exhibit a dark gray color tone. The combination of these color tones exhibits a beautiful black color tone which is distinguishable from a normal spring. The deposit improves the formability in the spring shaping process.

  • Patent number: 5439713
Abstract: A steel wire is coated with a ternary alloy of iron, zinc and aluminum on an outermost surface thereof. The ternary alloy contains 10 to 30 weight percent of aluminum. The steel wire is primarily used as material for springs. An Fe--Zn--Al ternary alloy coated steel wire production method includes immersing a steel wire in a zinc molten bath to plate the steel wire with zinc; immersing the zinc-plated steel wire in a zinc-aluminum molten bath to form a ternary alloy of iron, zinc, and aluminum on a surface of the steel wire; and removing an unsolidified zinc-aluminum layer depositing on an outer surface of the steel wire while being taken out of the zinc-aluminum molten bath to expose the ternary alloy on an outermost surface of the steel wire.

  • Patent number: 5254190
Abstract: A tendon for prestressed concrete structure comprises a core member such as a steel wire for prestressed concrete structures, a steel strand for prestressed concrete structures or a steel bar for prestressed concrete structures, and an unset bonding material coating the core structure in a predetermined thickness, having a specific setting time determined by selectively determining the respective contents of the ingredient of the bonding material and capable of setting at an ordinary temperature. The tendon is arranged in a desired arrangement for forming a prestressed concrete structure, concrete is placed so as to bury the tendons therein, and then the tendons are tensioned and fixed after the strength of the deposited concrete has increased to a degree to permit tensioning the tendons and before the unset bonding material sets. Thus, the unset bonding material sets after the tendons have been tensioned and fixed to bond the tendons firmly to the prestressed concrete structure.

  • Patent number: 4929650
Abstract: A coating material for a tendon for prestressed concrete includes a curing composition, the curing time of which is so controlled that the composition is held in an uncured fluid state for a predetermined time after the concrete hardens. After the predetermined time passes, the composition cures. By coating a tendon for prestressed concrete with the coating material having such properties, an antirust effect of the tendon, an improved adhering force of the tendon to the concrete and a decreased cost of manufacturing prestressed concrete can be obtained.

  • Patent number: 4642979
Abstract: Method and apparatus for adjusting the lay of a wire rope, in which a torque remaining in the wire rope is detected while the wire rope is drawn out from a reel, and the lay of the wire rope is increased or decreased in accordance with the result of the detection to remove the residual torque; further, the pitch of lay of the wire rope after increasing or decreasing of the lay is measured, then the lay is increased so that the pitch of lay becomes smaller by a predetermined amount than the measured pitch of lay, and the pitch of lay before increasing of the lay is measured continuously in this state. When the residual torque becomes zero in the above torque control, the operation shifts to the above pitch control, and when the measured pitch of lay before increasing of the lay exceeds a predetermined range in the pitch control, the operation shifts to the torque control.
