Patent number: 7878409Abstract: A hand-held barcode scanner includes a fingerprint reader for reading fingerprint data from a digit of an operator of the barcode scanner. Preferably, an operator's digit can be comfortably placed on the fingerprint reader while the operator is scanning barcodes. This type of barcode scanner may be used with a system or method for verifying identity during data entry. A system includes the barcode scanner with fingerprint reader; a database storing identification data and fingerprint data for users; and a controller, which is in communication with the scanning element, the fingerprint reader and the database, that compares fingerprint data from a digit placed on the fingerprint reader with the database to obtain an identity of a user and then associates the identity of the user with barcodes scanned by the barcode scanner. The system may activate an alarm if the identity of the operator is not an authorized user.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 2005Date of Patent: February 1, 2011Assignee: Shoplogix Inc.Inventor: Stefano Celestini

Publication number: 20070192128Abstract: A system for managing data within an organization that is intended to provide tactical and/or role-based data. The system includes a data acquisition module, a data processing module and an output module. The data acquisition module acquires operational data and financial data related to the operational data. The data processing module is configured to: analyze the operational data to identify a variance in the operational data; determine a financial impact of the variance based on the financial data; generate an event based on the variance in the operational data; and prioritize the event based on the financial impact. The output module then outputs the event, preferably in accordance with priority. In a particular case, the event may also be categorized as relating to a particular role with the organization.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 16, 2007Publication date: August 16, 2007Applicant: SHOPLOGIX INC.Inventor: Stefano Celestini

Publication number: 20070005304Abstract: A machine monitoring system and method uses a machine monitoring device (MMD) which is connected to the monitored machine. Outputs from the machine are attached to input connectors on the MMD. The MMD receives inputs from the machine via the input connectors and performs desired transformations. Results of the transformations are stored in an on-board database system within the MMD. Reports on machine status, quality, maintenance, production, and performance are generated by consulting the database system. Reports can be generated at fixed intervals or on demand and may be transmitted over a network. A server, such as a web server or the like, resident within the MMD makes reports remotely viewable from client computing devices on the network via web page interfaces or the like and also allows for remote configuration of the MMD via such interfaces.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 11, 2006Publication date: January 4, 2007Applicant: SHOPLOGIX INC.Inventor: Stefano CELESTINI
