  • Publication number: 20070013202
Abstract: A vehicle interior assembly includes a housing, a door pivotably mounted thereto, and a biasing member disposed therebetween. The housing has walls defining an interior and an opening. The walls include laterally opposed housing side walls and a connecting wall between the housing side walls, wherein the connecting wall has an inner surface. The door has a housing contact portion disposed on one side of the door for contact with the inner surface of the connecting wall of the housing at least when the door is latched to the housing in a closed rest position. The biasing member is disposed between the housing and the door on a side of the door opposite that of the housing contact portion of the door.

  • Publication number: 20060208506
Abstract: A latching mechanism adapted for use with an assembly within a passenger compartment of the vehicle. The latching mechanism includes an actuator pivotably mounted on the assembly, a biasing device coupled to the actuator, and a dampener coupled to the actuator. The actuator carries an engagement member that is disposed within a detent of a labyrinth when the assembly is closed. The dampener is also coupled to the assembly for retarding movement of the actuator, wherein upon a sudden impact affecting the assembly when closed, the dampener retards movement of the actuator for a predetermined time to enable the engagement member to remain disposed in the detent to keep the assembly closed.

  • Patent number: 5982123
Abstract: An automatic, self-adaptive controller for varying the interval between wipes of a windshield wiper arrangement for a vehicle measures current drawn by the windshield wiper arrangement during a forward and return portions of the windshield wiper wipe cycle and calculates an integration of the current over each portion of the windshield wiper wipe cycle to establish forward portion and return portion integration. The magnitude of the portions, which graphically appear as current lobes over time, are indicative of wiper-to-windscreen friction, and hence, wetness. The difference between the forward and return integration is representative of vehicle air speed. The windshield is characterized as wet when the first and second summation values are small, and in that case, a short interval between wipes is established. When the first and second integration values are large, the windshield is deemed to be dry, and a long interval is established between wipes.
