Patent number: 8068654Abstract: A method and system for detecting 3D objects in images is disclosed. In particular, a method and system for Ileo-Cecal Valve detection in 3D computed tomography (CT) images using incremental parameter learning and ICV specific prior learning is disclosed. First, second, and third classifiers are sequentially trained to detect candidates for position, scale, and orientation parameters of a box that bounds an object in 3D image. In the training of each sequential classifier, new training samples are generated by scanning the object's configuration parameters in the current learning projected subspace (position, scale, orientation), based on detected candidates resulting from the previous training step. This allows simultaneous detection and registration of a 3D object with full 9 degrees of freedom. ICV specific prior learning can be used to detect candidate voxels for an orifice of the ICV and to detect initial ICV box candidates using a constrained orientation alignment at each candidate voxel.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 2008Date of Patent: November 29, 2011Assignee: Siemens AkteingesellschaftInventors: Adrian Barbu, Le Lu, Luca Bogoni, Marcos Salganicoff, Dorin Comaniciu

Patent number: 7752847Abstract: The invention relates to a method for cooling a gas turbine comprising a rotor, said method being carried out after the operation of the gas turbine and whereby the rotor is driven at least intermittently during a cooling phase at a reduced nominal speed. To provide a gas turbine with a reduced down time, a liquid is introduced at least intermittently into the air stream upstream of the compressor during the cooling phase.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 2005Date of Patent: July 13, 2010Assignee: Siemens AkteingesellschaftInventors: Hajrudin Ceric, Giuseppe Gaio, Frank Günther, Armin Hülfenhaus, Gerhard Hülsemann, Gabriel Jungnickel-Marques, Stefan Wanz

Patent number: 7386359Abstract: A test device and a test method for testing a machine tool or production machine are disclosed. A control and monitoring unit processes at least one predefined instruction sequence and generates control commands for operating the machine controller in order to test the machine. The control commands are transmitted to the machine controller, where they are executed. The instruction sequence also includes control instructions. This results in a relatively simple test device and method for automatically and reproducibly testing a machine tool or production machine.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 2004Date of Patent: June 10, 2008Assignee: Siemens AkteingesellschaftInventors: Stefan Dohle, Thomas Menzel

Publication number: 20060056556Abstract: The invention relates to a method for guaranteeing an identical message sequence in several data sinks, according to which several data sources transmit data messages in parallel and independently of one another to said data sinks. To guarantee an identical message sequence, according to the invention a clock-pulse generator delivers a predefined consecutive clock-pulse generator number to all data sources at constant cycle intervals, for example 50 ms, said number being transmitted together with a message counter number that is consecutive during the cycle interval and with the message content to all data sinks.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 4, 2003Publication date: March 16, 2006Applicant: SIEMENS AKTEINGESELLSCHAFTInventors: Wolfgang Bachmann, Jorg Deister, Volker Goricke, Bernd Prade

Patent number: 6610419Abstract: Product having a layer which protects against corrosion, and process for producing a layer which protects against corrosion. The invention relates to a product (1), in particular a gas-turbine blade (1), having a metallic basic body (2) to which a protective layer (3, 4) for protecting against corrosion is bonded. The protective layer (3, 4) has an inner layer (3) of a first MCrAlY alloy and an outer layer (4) having a second MCrAlY alloy, which is bonded to the inner layer (3). The second MCrAlY alloy is predominantly in the &ggr;-phase. The invention also relates to a process for producing a protective layer (3, 4) in which the outer layer (4) is produced by re-melting a region of the inner layer (3) or by deposition of an MCrAlY alloy from a liquid phase.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2001Date of Patent: August 26, 2003Assignee: Siemens AkteingesellschaftInventor: Werner Stamm

Patent number: 6209315Abstract: An internal combustion engine operated with excess air has an exhaust gas after-treatment device wherein nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas are reduced by selective catalytic reduction. A pump is connected between a reducing agent container and a metering device for controlled feeding of a reducing agent to the exhaust gas upstream of an SCR catalyst. A pressure accumulator with an associated pressure sensor for intermediately storing the reducing agent is connected between the pump and the metering device. The pump delivers only so much reducing agent into the pressure accumulator as is being used in the exhaust gas after-treatment.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 1999Date of Patent: April 3, 2001Assignee: Siemens AkteingesellschaftInventor: Manfred Weigl

Patent number: 5731704Abstract: Two MR magnetic field probes arranged in a centrally symmetrical fashion in relation to the magnetic field center, are attached in the examination area of the magnet. The output signals of the two MR magnetic field probes are supplied to a multiplying RF mixer, and a sum frequency signal is obtained from the output signal of the RF mixer, and the actual value of the basic field is determined from the frequency of this output signal.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 1996Date of Patent: March 24, 1998Assignee: Siemens AkteingesellschaftInventors: Guenter Schnur, Claude Reymond, Pascal Sommer
