  • Patent number: 7170967
Abstract: In a method and a device for positioning a patient in a medical diagnosis device or therapy device having a position calculating device and a patient bed adjustable in at least one plane, at least one optical target marking is brought into conformity with a body region of the patient. At least one image recording device is used for obtaining an exterior image of the patient that is displayed on a screen. The target marking that is spatially coupled with the coordinate system of the diagnosis device or therapy device, is superimposed on the image of the patient on the screen such that a predetermined body region of the patient can be brought into a desired spatial correlation with the target marking by remote control movement of the patient bed.

  • Publication number: 20060212251
Abstract: The invention relates to an activation device for operating an electronic system in a motor vehicle, which has an electrically conductive sensor face for electrically coupling an operator to a system for operator detection. According to the invention, the sensor face is formed by the entire external surface, which can be touched by the operator, of the activation device by virtue of the fact that the external surface is of electrically conductive design.

  • Patent number: 6003297
Abstract: A gas turbine and a method for combustion of a fuel in a gas turbine, conduct a flow of compressed air through the gas turbine from a compressor section to a turbine section. The fuel is fed to the flow in the compressor section and is burnt in the flow between the compressor section and the turbine section. The flow is subjected to a spin with a speed component at right angles to a movement direction of the flow when the flow emerges from the compressor section. The combustion of the fuel increases the speed component in the movement direction of the flow, causing the speed of the flow entering the turbine section to correspond to a value predetermined by the geometry of the turbine section.

  • Patent number: 5943385
Abstract: In order to reduce the flow resistance of a coolant flowing through a passage in a support plate of a boiling water reactor and entering a transition piece at a lower end of a fuel assembly resting on the support plate, a lower rim of the transition piece forms a conically tapered surface which fits into a corresponding conical counter-surface at an upper edge of the passage. The lower rim of the transition piece forms a circular inlet which is concentric with the passage and has a size equal to or slightly larger than the passage. Fingers protruding laterally into the passage and extending down into the passage are used to center the lower rim within the passage. Additionally, end caps of the fuel rods may be stream-lined and the lower tie plate of the fuel assembly may be spaced apart from an inner surface of a fuel channel by a plurality of ribs which form a plurality of peripheral through holes on each of the four inner surfaces of the rectangular-shaped fuel channel.

  • Patent number: 5847560
Abstract: Linearly polarized measuring light is broken down into two differently polarized component light signals in an analyzer after passing through a Faraday sensor device. The intensity of the corresponding electric intensity signals is normalized by dividing the respective alternating signal component by the respective direct signal component. From the two normalized intensity signals S1 and S2, a measuring signal is derived according to the formula:S=(2.multidot.S1.multidot.S2)/((S2-S1)+K.multidot.(S1+S2))where cos(2.theta.+2.eta.)=-2/(3K) and sin(2.theta.-2.eta.)=1 are valid for a correction factor K, an injection angle .eta. between the plane of polarization of the injected measuring light to a natural axis of the linear birefringence in the sensor device and a exit angle .theta. between this natural axis and a natural axis of the analyzer.

  • Patent number: 5077819
Abstract: A hermetically sealed optical fiber lens arrangement, particularly for optoelectronic modules, includes an optical fiber which extends through a metal tubule and is fastened therein. The metal tubule is attached through a flange at an aperture in a wall of a module housing, and includes a spherical lens fastened in the module housing. The metal tubule supporting the optical fiber is adjusted in the flange by axially displacing it a preset focal distance from the spherical lens, and is fastened in the flange. The spherical lens mounting takes the form of a metal tubule and is adjusted at the frontal side of the flange adjacent to the housing by transverse displacement and fastened, so as to achieve optimum alignment of the optical axes of said arrangement, and the flange is hermetically sealed directly or through an annular projection of the spherical lens mounting to the modular housing wall.

  • Patent number: 5032773
Abstract: A drive system has a drive motor with an associated current regulator. The current regulator controls the semiconductor contact elements of an electronic power stage, which is arranged downstream from the drive motor. This control is a function of a rotor-position sensor, whose rotor part is coupled to the rotor of this motor and has a number of magnetic poles corresponding to the number of poles of the drive motor. Furthermore, the current setpoint that is supplied to the current regulator is increased by overlapping an auxiliary voltage during the respective instant of commutation. Torque fluctuations which are caused by manufacturing tolerances can be then be eliminated. On the circumference of the rotor part, a number of magnetic field sensors corresponding to the number of phases m of the drive motor are mounted at a spatial distance of 360.degree. /(p.m) to each other where p is the number of pole pairs of the drive motor.

  • Patent number: 4790005
Abstract: Information(s) to be processed for call set up, as well as for testing and maintenance are supplied to a switching unit. The former are prioritized. A loadability measuring circuit, which compares actual-loading with reference-loading during leveling longer period, short term fluctuations, and continuously sets an adjustment standard related to the inflow of information, which is pre-supplied to a corresponding counter, for continuing inflow measurement, then measures loading caused by information of both kinds, measures instead, average corresponding reduced reference-value dependent, reference-actual comparison, for the case where this loading is too high, only the loading dependent upon call set up information to be processed. The adjustment standard is only reduced when the latter loading is too high, it is increased instead when the latter loading, as well as the loading dependent upon both kinds of information is too low.

  • Patent number: 4506224
Abstract: An apparatus for generating a substantially homogeneous magnetic high-frequency field and/or for receiving high-frequency signals in a nuclear magnetic resonance apparatus, such as zeugmatography. The apparatus contains at least two conductor sections of predetermined length which extend on a least one imaginary cylindrical surface parallel to the axial direction of the cylindrical surface. The conductor sections are adapted to carry current in opposite directions when connected to either external feeding or external receiving devices. In one embodiment, the arrangement operates at frequencies of illustratively 20 MHz so as to provide an improved signal-to-noise ratio over prior art systems. An envelope formed of electrically conductive material is adapted to be impervious to high-frequency energy, but permeable to low-frequency energy, and further adapted to be concentrically arranged with respect to the imaginary cylindrical surface about the conductor sections.

  • Patent number: 3947649
Abstract: An improved method for quenching an arc in an AC circuit breaker having an arc chamber in which the arc rotates in a quenching medium between open electrodes having ends close together in which the arc is caused to generate during its rotation, through a heating of the quenching medium, an over-pressure which is maintained beyond the zero crossing of the AC current with the gas flow produced by the over-pressure use for blasting the arc in the nozzle. Various embodiments for use in medium and high voltage switching installations which permit the switching of large currents with a simple and inexpensive arrangement are illustrated.
